Before i had my lapband surgery in May i would go to happy hour every other day. Now currently I can even take a couple sips of Moscato wine without feeling the effects of it. I am a light weight now when it comes to drinking.

No problems with alcohol here. Been drinking since I've been banded per doctor's orders. I drink both wine and liquor. Good luck!

I used to drink a lot and smoked when I weighed 256 lbs. I don't drink any alcohol at all now or smoke anymore. At 65 years old, I feel that for me it's better not to have any booze or smoke in my body. I have never had a drinking problem, I just was socialable and men were buying the drinks all the time. My husband does not drink or smoke and never did.

He came from a religious home, while my parents and family smoked. And had wine at the Jewish holidays and wedding. I think we liked it when others paid for it. Lol lol lol .

Have a wonderful and safe Christmas and New Years. Be safe.

<p>Alcohol does not bother me one way or the other, and my habits have not changed all that much....(I'm not a calorie counter)</p> <p>I do have to take my Bloody Mary's less spicy, as is the new habit now with all things because of reflux....</p> <p> </p> <p>I also drink carbonated drinks now and then,,,and I will have a Beer, or 2, or 3, at times but NEVER within hours of eating any food....</p> <p>My Dr. has a strict "No Carbonation Rule" also...then one day I told him I was going to a Yankee game and said "Don't drink too much beer!" and "Remember the warning signs when you do"</p> <p>That stopped me in my tracks, asked him to explain...he thought we already had "That talk"...so after some questions, etc, he gave me his permission...ONLY because I was banded for over 2 years, and ONLY because I was done with my weight loss and and understood many things I would not understand earlier on when I was still learning more important lessons on how to live successfully with the band........</p> <p> </p> <p>So I DO NOT advocate drinking Carbonated drinks to anyone....I DO advocate you follow your Dr.'s treatment plan to t "T".</p> <p>Like my Mother used to say...just because one person jumps off the bridge does not make it right or wrong.....and no one here should ever do things because other people say they do...or worse yet, tell others it is OK or Not OK....</p> <p> </p> <p>Got a BIG Christmas party tonight...dos not start till 8:30pm at a Swank Country Club.....and I don't eat after 7 as a general rule that works for me........I doubt I will be eating anything, soooo........</p>

Probably a month. I know I had wine to start. Then I waited for the two month post op and tried one Margarita and couldn't drink it all. I am now three years post op and still can only drink one Margarita. I still drink a glass a wine maybe twice a week. Nothing like I used to preband. I only drank a small glass of egg nog for Christmas and then I didn't finish it. I did have a couple of Jello shots though. LOL

I do not drink often. I had my surgery and since then I have had a few drinks...It takes me a while to get them down and I really don't crave them. I will have a drink here and there, but honestly I don't drink much anymore not sure if it was the band or just the realization that I am trying to lose weight and don't need to knock back empty calories all the time...This whole carbonation thing is crazy. Having a drink won't kill ya. The carbonation is mostly a gas thing. It makes you uncomfortable is all. I can take gas-x and have no problem drinking those lovely carbonated beverages on occasion. Hope this helps. Remember they have no benefit to you other than being tasty and a social thing. Losing weight and getting healthy is way more important....save the alcohol for important occasions. :) Good luck!!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
