Claire,

I had my surgery on a Thursday and was back to work on Monday. I would have preferred Tuesday but that is all I needed.

On the other hand, I have a desk job (with some running around the office) and took 12 days (including weekends) off. I wish I could have taken 2 more, but I couldn't. It wasn't fun when I returned to work, but I survived it.

I had surgery on Friday and was back on tuesday half days and I have a very easy desk job with no one else around so I could moan etc with no one to wonder what was going on. Everyone is different but I could have probably used a few more days of just staying home (I traveled back to the states from Mexico and that was almost worse then the surgery). Conversely, it was good to keep busy and get back into my routine as it kept my mind off body things and the liquid diet. Congrats and good luck to you - how wonderful to have your best friend on the journey with you.

I Had Surgery On Friday Morning, Flew Back From Mexico On Sunday Morning And Was Back At Work Monday Morning At 8:00 Am. No One In My Office Knew I Had Been To Mexico For Surgery. I Am Now 1 Month Post Op And I Have Lost 21 Lbs. Still No One In My Office Knows About The Surgery. I Had Absolutely No Pain From The Surgery Itself...none. However I Did Come Down With The Virus The Day After Surgery And Had To Fly Home From Mexico With My Head In A Bag (if You Know What I Mean). I Cant Wait For My First Fill Next Week (april 4). I Had 2 Friends That Flew To Mexico And Had Surgery The Same Day As Myself. Both Are Doing Greattttttt. It Is So Nice To Have 2 Friends To Go Through This With.

I am so glad I found this forum and I am so impressed with the reported short recovery times! I am a nurse apprentice in an ED and I wasn't quite sure how long to schedule off for recovery after lap-band. Sounds like a week of light duty and then back to normal?

DollyRose

hmmmm, my DH is usually interested in discussing lap-band with me, this morning he just grunted... :faint:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
