There's food on my Christmas tree!

Recommended Posts

You guys are so funny. I have no food ornaments but two ornaments one of my sons classmates made for everyone last year out of food I guess... They smell like cinnamon and as soon as I opened the tote my ornaments were in and smelled the cinnamon I made my boyfriend go to Walmart and buy me the Fiber one 90 cal cinnamon coffee cakes oh my god they are sooo good!!

That's what hubby's and boyfriends are for!

I have an ice cream cone ornament. Other than that just regular candy canes. But I probably would love some. I love to bake so can't wait to see those:)

I didn't put up a tree for a long time, so I had to start fresh this year - and yup, I have glass cupcakes all over my tree, lol.

Sure! I have a mild cupcake obsession at the moment. They're all over my tea towels, too :)

I never thought about there being food ornaments. I was going to say, Ohh nooo, I only have Santa's and balls on my tree but after closer looks........ I have real candy canes all over it. I guess subconsciously we all associate food with our holidays. lol

Just needed to add that I began my wrapping today & every item I wrapped is wrapped in wrapping paper with candy... such as candy canes, ribbon candy, peppermint candy. I will have to take a pic tomorrow to show what I am talking about lol.... even the bags I have, have peppermints on them...

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
