No Need for Tummy Tuck!

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd need a Tummy Tuck, but it's starting to look like my tummy is tightening itself and I will not need surgery! Now...for my boobs and butt, different story - they are gone and I want them replaced. I will do what I can in terms of exercising to get things pumped back up, but if that doesn't work I'm already doing my research on the procedures I'd like. Lucky me, my boyfriend says I'm fine the way I am...but he said that before the lap band, too. I guess I'll just take comfort in his response "I'm not going to love you any less either way, you are just right to me but if you're not happy then that's another story."

Well this is a story with a happy ending, whatever you decide. I think at 52 I'm fairly philosophical about my body in terms of what my mother and grandmother called, "Hangsie-Downsie." Let's just say the fruit is going to hang low at some point no matter what.

I know I need a Tummy Tuck but as long as I can hide it I am fine with that. Too old now for more surgeries

I'm 57 years old and 10 days post op from a full Tummy Tuck. Mine was 100% covered by insurance due to rashes. I run about 15-18 miles a week, and can't wait to start again. So far so good re the surgery. I still have one drain in, hopefully it will come out next Tuesday (day15). By far the hardest part of this is maintaining the restrictions (no lifting more than 10lbs). If you want it seriously check into it! I'm sure glad I did.

Way to go, I'm afraid I am not so lucky, I'm having a full body lift in April. But I started out at over 400 so the suit is a bit stretched out!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
