Gallstones question

Recommended Posts

I have been having constant upper back pain for the last few days. It goes away when I'm in bed but the pain is always there during the day. Is this a symptom of gallstones or do you think this could just be plain old annoying back pain? At my ultrasound back in January the tech found gallstones but I had decided against removing my gallbladder before the lapband surgery. I've been on a 2 week pre-op diet and I'm having my lapband done on Monday. Any advise???

I suffered from gallstones horrible painfull things they were. When I had gallstone attacks there was no way In hell I was able to lay still the only thing that eased the pain was a really hot bath or a trip to the emergency department. The pain from my gallstones use to sit right where my rib cage joins ( the butterfly ) but did niggle into my back also. It use to start in my back and make its way to the front..

I had my gallbladder taken out b4 I had my lapband because I was told change in diet could actually make it worse

It's best to take yourself down to the dr's just to be on the safe side

Good luck with your surgery :(

Yepp...I totally agree, although my Gallbladder pain is different than that..and it can kinda sit in my back....it will only get worse with the weight loss....I think that you should consider what you are eating...and avoid those trigger foods, for instance, as long as I avoid chocolate at all costs..I am AOKAY! Good Luck

Tracey

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
