rbmk14 59 Posted December 12, 2013 I had my surgery in July 2013 and am sad to say I've only lost 20 pounds . I know for sure I'm not doing my part like I should be doing, but I also haven't been able to have one fill since my surgery. My doctor's office told me AFTER surgery that they don't do fills on Fridays, and since I go to college 4 hours away from my doctors office, it's pretty much impossible to be there on a day other than Friday. How hard is it to switch doctors for fills/aftercare? There's one closer to my parents house that does fills on Friday and also has once a month saturday fills, and also a TR office only 1 1/2 from my school that I could do a weekday appointment at. Can you do fills at more than one office? Since my surgery was entirely covered by insurance, what do I need to do with them to switch? 2 Bandista and kll724 reacted to this
HotButterFly 981 Posted December 12, 2013 Yes. If you're in the NY/NJ area you may be able to use Gaspar Rosario, a NP from NYU. I can't find the website right now but his practice is called The BandWagon. I get my fills from him. He's wonderful and has a 6th sense for finding that port!!! 2 Bandista and kll724 reacted to this
rmalikone 108 Posted December 12, 2013 I would guess that as long as the new doctor has no problem then you shouldn't either. I had a similar question for my doctor as I have not gotten to the green zone and will be leaving the area for a long trip and he said as long as it's a bariatric doctor he has no problem. 2 kll724 and Bandista reacted to this
terrydumont46 1,954 Posted December 12, 2013 i don't think you will have a problem with the insurance. as long as your new doctor is in network. i was going to tell you to come to my surgeon but you are a bit to far. lol. she would not only do a fill but ask you why you havent had one before. 2 Bandista and kll724 reacted to this
kll724 3,055 Posted December 12, 2013 Don't know, but call to find out! Explain to the new doctor and the old why you need to see the new doctor. Best wishes. Karen...aka..kll724 1 Bandista reacted to this
Bandista 7,466 Posted December 12, 2013 Being able to see some on regularly is going to be great. Can you call the place near your parents' house and ask what the fill schedule would be like for some one banded in July with no fills as yet? I am going in weekly right now -- can let go of an appointment if I feel like I don't need another fill yet but they are on the calendar. Have had two so far. I think this is fairly aggressive. Of course every one is different but the idea is to have a medical professional to track closely with you. The idea of Friday appointments regularly then moving to less frequency and having that whole Saturday option is pretty compelling. You want a relationship over time so if you're in college and life is crazy one thing you know is you can go for a fill when you're home. Call your insurance company or go online to make sure the new places you're considering are covered. Good luck -- you are going to do great! As for the twenty off, way to go. That is something to Celebrate, for sure!
