3 Month Bandiversary and 40 Pounds Lighter!

Recommended Posts

Four months ago I was nearly 250 lbs. I was tired, embarrassed about how I looked and no longer wanted to leave the house and do things with the family. I teach at a college and when the Fall semester began I was struggling to get into size 16 jeans.

I had my LapBand on September 12, 2013 and I am so thankful. It is not magic and I work hard. I am a food addict, I didn't get to 250 eating broccoli and rice cakes.

I am learning so much about myself and gaining a whole new since of control. I am making better choices and learning to look at food as fuel. Do I still like brownie? Hell yes! The difference is that I can have just one brownie and REALLY appreciate it.

Went shoppi g to get new jeans last week and bought a size 12! No more plus size clothing stores for me. I am on the move 14 to 16 hours a day and loving it. At the gym 4 times a week and actually ENJOYING it. The best thing this far has been stepping on the scale and seeing a weight that begins with a 1 and not a 2.

Have there been struggles, of course. The band does not take away craving but it does allow me to pause and think about what I am doing.

As of today, I have about 30 pounds to go. Hoping to be there by May 2014. For now I am taking care of myself after emergency gall bladder surgery and a complete unfill. I am not discouraged, this is a lifestyle change.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
