Carlotta1 401 Posted December 11, 2013 Just wanted to report that my surgery went well. I am resting and walking around every once in a while. I do have heartburn but the dr prescribed nexium for me. I don't have an appetite. So eating Jello, Popsicles , and broth is not bad. Tomorrow I start with full liquids. To those who have not the surgery. Ask for a nausea patch if u are nauseated from anesthesia . Also a relaxer for those who are too anxious . I did not even remember when they rolled me into or My dr is very very thorough .i was in surgery for4 hours.. I was a lapband to sleeve patient. He took a lot of time in cleaning up my scar tissue. I thanked god when I opened my eyes in the recovery room and saw my hubby smiling at me. I.t is all good. And I an grateful for all the wonderful experiences in my life. This is surely one of them. I will thinking and praying for the remainder of the December sleevers who are about to embark on this journey. 4 LindafromFlorida, CoffeeGrinDR, ★D's Life★ and 1 other reacted to this
AshleyMidwife 189 Posted December 11, 2013 I was sleeved yesterday as well. Have been struggling more than I thought with pain, but as long as I stay up I my meds, I feel pretty good it was nice to see my fam and boyfriend when I woke up in my room also. I'm trying to sip a lot, but it's painful like an abdominal spasm when the liquid hits The pouch. Hoping pain gets a lot better soon. 1 ★D's Life★ reacted to this
NothingUpMySleeve 244 Posted December 11, 2013 Thank you both for posting. I am getting sleeved Thursday and I'm terrified and the post-op reports seem to help put it in perspective.
blueslp 17 Posted December 11, 2013 I was sleeved 12/2. That spasm you feel when u r drinking should go away. I had it for 2-3 days. First sip was usually ok it was the 2nd that I felt that spasm. Try playing around with temperatures of what u r drinking too. I found that warm went down easier at first. Cold gave me a spasm right away but seems ok now. It will get better good luck and happy healing!!!!

Hey Ashley -- My surgeon recommended taking a Benadryl for the abdominal spasms. He said it sounds weird, but they've found it works and it doesn't interact with any other prescribed meds. I didn't need it personally, but if you struggle for long, you might ask your do if he/she has heard of that trick.

AshleyMidwife 189 Posted December 12, 2013 Thanks VSG! I tried some Benadryl last night to supplement my pain meds. I slept really good after that! Spasms are better. Warm fluids help for sure. I'm feeling a ton better this morning. Less gas I think and now feel more just like super sore muscles. Like I did a million sit ups. I don't really feel like I need the narcotics, but would like some Tylenol to take the edge off. Anyone have any suggestions? I haven't found any adult liquid Tylenol, just children's. does that work for anyone? I could always just crush some into some Protein Shake or something. HW 297, SW 287, CW 282 Oh, I wouldn't crush Tylenol. That's make me throw up! I found adult strength liquid Acetaminophen (store brand Tylenol) at Wal-Mart. Hidden from view 159 Posted December 13, 2013 I was very alarmed at first, by the painful spasms and throwing up. At the time it seemed to go on for ages, but here i am 8 weeks out and no more spasms!
