For some reason chicken is heavy in my pouch and some days I get sick from it so I don't bother to much with it

Since surgery seafood has been my friend.:) I love tilapia, snow crabs, sometimes shrimp...seems to sit well thank goodness lol

I can't eat chicken. Baked chicken, chicken salad, chicken w/gravy, grilled chicken, white or dark meat - all 'no'. I can eat ground chicken with no trouble at all. So that's what I eat when I wan chicken. :-)

I've gave up on chicken. Pretty much it has to be thinly shredded for me.

I know it sounds odd, but my nutritionist recommended a teaspoonful of meat tenderizer to help with food that might get stuck...I haven't had to use it yet, but it may help.

I was able to eat KFC's grilled chicken thigh with no problem. Then tried it last night and was miserable until I brought it up. Still didn't feel all that well when I went to bed. I can eat chicken and tuna salad, shrimp, any ground beef, and going to try ground turkey next. Now I know how a banded person felt when they had a stuck issue (I never had the problem with the band). About the only thing I can say, this has been one heck of a learning lesson of what to eat and what not to eat. Plus have to remember to have small bites and chew, chew, chew until my jaw hurts :).

I got the same advice but haven't had a chance to try it yet. :-)

Hi Junies! Haven't been around in a long time... Got pretty discouraged for a while. I had a really long stall and had gallbladder surgery (which finally broke the stall) then as soon as I healed, my weight went right back up. I had no explanation. I have been tracking everything. I will admit to being less strict with my carbs, which is something I need to break, but I still wasn't eating poorly. The longer the stall was, the more discouraged I have become and the less I care about what I eat. That sounds terrible, but I've been the same weight since the beginning of sept. That really stinks... Sorry for the "poor me" post, just trying to get myself back to where I need to be mentally...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
