Big Day Tomorrow 12-11 And I Feeling In The Dumps

Recommended Posts

The liquid diet is definitely the least of my favorite part about this surgery. As for the rude person...... Honey people say some awful things. Some say some thoughtless things. Overall you are making a decision about your health and well being. The fact you were approved for this surgery says enough about you qualify for it. I started on a bit of a lower spectrum than some who have had the surgery weight wise and there have been some things said to me. It hurt my feelings and at times made me fighting mad. Overall the sleep apnea being gone, high bp gone, insulin resistance, pcos, and all the other good that's happened since surgery have made it worth it. I deserve good health as we all do. We deserve happiness and sometimes the chances we get for it are what makes us truly appreciate it more. Delete from your life the toxic folks as it's just not worth having them bog you down again as you continue along your journey. Hold on tight it's a wild ride...but worth it!!

If someone went to that person and said they could have a surgery and change diet and it would cure multiple major issues and prolong their life by YEARS, do you think they would feel they deserved the surgery???

You deserve it and to live longer, healthier life!

Hope your surgery went well today.

I've read a lot of negative comments in response to someone's decision to have WLS. The majority are based on ignorance of the facts. Some are based on ignorance along with concern for the person's welfare.

This is entirely different. This is hate. In a number of different contexts, it would border on a crime. If anyone ever said that to me, about me or about anyone else, it would be the last conversation we would ever have. There is no excuse. No justification. No forgiveness. Some things are not acceptable. I would not want this person in my life or the lives of those I care about.

Happy that I have made it this far in 4 months..lost 58 pounds befor surgery. Someone close to me said YOU DONT EVEN DESERVE TO HAVE THE SURGERY. What if their right, I don't. I let this happen to me no one else. I was so happy last couple of days. Now I am so sad that I am questioning everything

I am sorry that u had to deal with someone like that. Everyone deserves a better life. I hope you the best and will be in my prayers.

Thank you Terry. I swear my emotions are going all over the place. Maybe its the clear liquid diet I been on since noon yesterday or maybe its just overwhelming the thought of being healthy.

Bobby, I know you had your surgery already, and hope you're doing well. Mine's next week...I feel a lot of the same - that I did this to myself and now I have to rearrange my insides, change my God-given body, to lose weight. My weight has been the one thing in my life that I haven't been able to conquer. I sometimes feel it's a cop out or the easy way out, but there's definitely nothing easy about this - for me or my family. My fears, emotions, excitement, etc are all over the place. I kind of look at it like, I've been fat since I was six, and I haven't been able to live a healthy life. I have a wonderful husband, and I'd like to live a long, healthy life. That said, that's a daunting thought since I've never been healthy, and I'm scared I won't know how to deal with a thin, healthy body. My body image will be shot, and I know I'll have a hard time with a "fat head." that's what therapy will be for...dealing with such an enormous change. You'll be great, and you're already past the biggest hurdle of surgery. Congrats on taking control of your body when, for so many years, it has controlled you (and me)!

Thanks. Surgery was 2 days ago (thurs). So happy to be home! Blended diet starts tomorrow! Can't wait for some cottage cheese (ha, seriously)! I didn't walk until day 2 in the hospital, but I did at least stand up day 1. Wow, that was rough. I envy the folks who said they didn't have any pain! At least I'm in my own bed without all the tubes, so I feel 100% better than yesterday! How long until we feel better?

Recovery varies from person to person...I was up the first day, and really turned the corner after about week 3. Take the pain meds on time..sip lots and walk a lot...you'll feel better before you know it.

That makes me so sad that someone would say that to you....I hope things have changed since 12-10 ....

Don't listen to ignorant people whose motivations for such awful words may be in question.

Keep smiling Bobby you're doing GREAT! I admire you for losing so much before surgery thats hard and takes a real will for success!!

GO FOR IT Bobby!! ;):D

Let us know how you're doing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
