Car Is Packed And Leaving For The Hospital 12/10/2013

That sucks. I know its hard to feel better while reading these posts while going through pain, but on quote that makes it all the goals come into focus is:

"you have to go through hell to get to heaven"

Just try to rest and follow the Doctors orders and the nurses instructions. I worked in hospital with post-op bariatric patients before and one thing I've learned regarding pain is, once you feel something coming on, DON"T try to man up and not take any pain meds. Because by the time you give into the pain and demand meds, the pain may be to intense for the meds to do any good.

I also recommend that if the nurse asks you if you want anything for pain, TAKE it, because he/she may be with another patient if you need the med later.

hope this helps brother. Best wishes.

very good advice. It's easier to keep pain controlled to get it controlled. And you are right about the nurse. Take the meds while she is available.

My wife and children are worried as well. It seems to help that I'm confident in what I'm doing and letting them know that everything is going to be fine.

Feeling a little better this morning. Had a low grade fever but that seems to be down. Having some ongoing pain but not severe. Pain meds take care of that. Hurts when I drink but I am drinking more today. Probably going home today

Andrew -- have you tried warm drinks? Cold stuff made my new sleeve cramp up, but warm broth and warm tea went down with no problem. I think it might've helped with internal swelling, too, because in no time I've been able to get in cold Water, etc. without trouble.

Been drinking both hot and cold. My doctor said I'm taking in too much air when I swallow.

Home from the hospital and feeling pretty good. I don't want to jinx myself, but this wasn't as difficult as I was prepared for. Gas pains have not been an issue for me, although maybe that is the source of the bloated feeling in my abdomen.

Next step is get through the next 3 weeks without a leek, but I'm optimistic. The surgeon said it went very smoothly. The guy before me ran into a few complications, I'm told.

I plan to follow his instructions on drinking and walking and hopefully that will minimize my chance of getting a leak.

Enjoy ur pre op diet, if u feel like something have it, you won't be able to for a very long time x also I know everyone is different but it's not as bad as they make it out!! God I hope I don't regret saying that. It's 5 am here now and I can't sleep with the excitement of actually having it done x here's to the future :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
