Throwing Up Allmost All The Time

Recommended Posts

Had surgery 2008. threw up often and everything I ate. after all this time, i'm still throwing up. not every day but when I do it is mostly mucus along with some food. I chew everything well. sweets ie; candy, always stays down. wish the food would. now i'm a diabetic still and I eat chocolate to survive since everything else won't stay down. there are days when I can eat just about any thing and then I feel great. but it is not everyday. any ideas out there? have had dumping syndrome one time and it was terrible let me tell you, once was enough. i'm down to 180 from 397 and feel ok most of the time. am also a severe heart patient. triple bypass and 27 stents have been placed. so would I do this surgery over again?? In a heart beat. Being fat was a nightmare I wouldn't wish on anyone especially a child that was the butt of every nasty, malicious taunts etc etc

.people have no idea what being fat is all about until you have been grossly fat for some time. Just being able to fit in a movie theater seat, made me cry the first time. just fitting into a size 42 jeans made me cry in a fitting room, down from a size 62 pant size. wishing to blend into a crowd and finally doing it and feeling invisible for once in your life. being the stand out "fat" person was not my idea of a nice life. so even with all this throwing up I still would do it all over again.

I was one of the people who felt, speaking just for myself, that even if I died during surgery it would be better than having to live one more day as "The fat person every body laughted at or was discusted by".

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
