First off I cannot believe I am almost a year out from my new life. Life has changed for me dramatically in so many ways. The things I never thought I would be able to do, I’m able to do today. One was change my relationship with food. food has been part of my life for so long and just the thought of handling life issues on my own without the comfort of food was a hard pill to swallow. My health has turned around for the best which was the most important thing I wanted to do, I did not want my weight to be a factor in my death. I was miserable, I was overweight, I was angry, I was never able to find clothes that actually fit me, and I was trapped in a body that I ultimately hated.

I knew things were bad for me when I was unable to reach my girl parts in the shower. I was unable to walk one block without losing my breath & my sleep apnea was really out of control when I would choke and stop breathing while I slept. For a few years I would not even take pictures or look in the mirror, I basically hated my own reflection. My only regret about having my surgery was I wish I had done this sooner.

I have had many bumps in the road. And believe me this is no easy way out, you have to take it day by day. My relationship with food, people and loved ones have all changed for the better…(yes believe me I am a new person, so whatever was negative in my life before is no longer in my life now…elimination is key this time around and it feels good to be in control)

For anyone starting their own journey, I would like to say, do your research, find much needed support, ask as many questions as you like no question is dumb, never compare yourself to others, do what works for you, stick to the program, LOG YOUR FOODS, eat your Protein and be sure to take your Vitamins, learn to love the new person that will surface life only gets better from here!

and most important---DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO TALK YOU OUT OF TAKING YOUR LIFE BACK AND LIVING A HEALTHIER LIFE!

Congratulations. I am glad to hear things are better for you now. Cant wait to be in that side of things.

Are u feeling better now? Sometimes I swear the insurance is designed to stress us out, but don't let that stress you do everything you have to do to move forward

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
