Andrea, please calm down!!!! You're going to make yourself sick before you even leave your house. Everything is going to be fine! You have a competent surgeon who's done this many, many times. You have excellent reports from several of his patients. Your flight to and from Mexico will be uneventful. The driver will not forget you. (This is how he feeds his family.) Your anesthesiologist will give you something for nausea. (They don't want you throwing up.) Your surgery will be routine. The little aches and pains will be less each day. You'll get through the liquid faze and survive. You'll be so busy trying to get all that Water in and time will fly. Then, suddenly, one day, you'll realize that you have more energy and feel better than you have for years. Your clothes will get too baggy. You'll have to buy new ones that fit - in a smaller size! You'll start feeling better and better and better - physically, emotionally, and spiritually! You'll realize that you Love Your Band!

I want you to smile and think about these dancing bananas as you "nod off" for your banding...:banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana

You're going to be fine!:D

Marie,

that was an awsome pep talk and you are right Andrea you will get thru this just fine and be on your way to a new you.. I loved the second part of that post cause it was just the pep talk that I needed to read tonight as well... I sometimes get a little impatient with myself and need to remember that soon I will have more energy, pep, pazzaz and ye ha a new wardrobe and of course much smaller than the one that I have now.. my biggest downfall is that I am not patient at all I mean that I just want to see results fast and I know that this is a slow process.. so that I am working on as well.. but I do love my band and am very gald I did it and would do it all over again.. :D

Congratulations,Jeanie, you have lost a pound for every single day that you've been banded! That is absolutely amazing! I get impatient too and want to hurry up and fix this. I have to remind myself that I didn't get in this shape overnight and it will take a while to undo. But we've already taken the first positive step. We were some of the lucky ones that were able to get a band. We WILL make it - one day at a time!:D

Andrea, please don't take offense. I'm not picking on you. It's normal to be nervous. I've never met anyone who likes surgery. But please try to think of the end result. You're going to be so much healthier! (((Hugs))) :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
