Memily 86 Posted December 9, 2013 Sooooooooo is sucking on piece of sugar free candy cheating??
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted December 9, 2013 I hope not. I just bought a 16 pound box of sugar free lollipops.
bobheist 85 Posted December 9, 2013 I don't think it's cheating at all. Just be careful of carbs and sugar-alcohols. Some of the sugar-free Gummy Bears and Jellybeans I've looked at have more carbs than I had expected. And the sugar alcohols can have a laxative effect... Mel1071 149 Posted December 9, 2013 Beware of sugar free candies - they can be loaded with sugar alcohols that can wreak havoc with your system. If there is any ingredient with "itol" at the end (malitol, sorbitol, xylitol, etc) - look out - that's a sugar alcohol. For an amusing view of what problems sugar alcohols can cause, read this http://www.amazon.com/Haribo-Gummy-Candy-Sugarless-5-Pound/product-reviews/B000EVQWKC
McButterpants 2,846 Posted December 9, 2013 I have tried them and I think they actually trigger hunger for me. (I think Splenda does the same thing.)
sophiepants 489 Posted December 9, 2013 I hope not! I've ate them since just before my surgery. I have a up to 5 hard candies a day some times. I did however eat like 15- 20 I think one day and it hurt my belly so bad. I paid for that in the potty for a day an half. YIKES lol never again 1 Memily reacted to this
bobheist 85 Posted December 9, 2013 I take a sugar-free cough drop here and there and they definitely help. They don't trigger hunger for me the way nuts/carbs/slider type foods do. I think it's different for each of us.

lizv123 389 Posted December 11, 2013 sugar free stuff will have a laxative effect if taken in more than one serving size. Learned that the hard way in high school with cough drops :/
Branmuffin 190 Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) I used to eat Sugar Free Chocolate candies (russel Stovers) and noticed after a while they were turning my teeth darker. Might want to watch for that. Edited December 11, 2013 by Branmuffin
7 Bites_Jen 479 Posted December 11, 2013 Some docs and nuts say yes, some say no. I'm assuming you're on liquids ..?
Memily 86 Posted December 12, 2013 I am on pureed/blenderized foods right now. I see the laxative and fart city remark to be true. I usually only have my coffee flavored one in the morning. I doesn't make me miss my coffee as much. 1 7 Bites_Jen reacted to this
