Anyone Else Cold All The Time?

Recommended Posts

OK, I'm of two minds here. One mind is saying "Well crap. It doesn't go away??" The other one is cheering that I have company because my husband (who is beyond supportive in any other way) thinks I'm insane. He runs the fan at night and I've added a wool blanket from Iceland to my side of the bed. Bless all of you who mentioned Cuddle Duds, getting my credit card and Amazon prime account "warmed up" right now!

And yes, I woke up cold before the real weight loss set in but that's often a side effect of anesthesia so I didn't think about it at the time.

I bought some cuddle duds microfleece and have to say I am disappointed in them. I am still cold. Maybe I didn't buy the right kind. I did get these on Amazon and love them. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GVM0HWM/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You do need to order a size larger than what you wear, which when you're trying to lose weight isn't what we want to do.

I wore the thermals I bought link in post #32 today when I went outside to shovel snow. They kept me warm. It was 11 but felt like -8 with wind chill.

Oh my gosh! I thought it was just me, but apparently not! My hands and feet are constantly freezing. Like the bottom part of my nails on my hands are blue all the time and even with socks and tennis shoes on my feet are freezing. I even went out and bought a heated mattress pad because I couldn't fall asleep at night because I was so cold. I've always been warm blooded and the type to just wear a sweatshirt out in the winter(I live in CA) but I'm having to bundle up with gloves and a scarf. I hope my body temperature readjusts. I guess I would rather be cold than hot.

Always cold...wear jackets all day even when I can use a blanket. I have actually been working in my computer in gloves...kinda hard to type. I also have a very warm fleece robe so I wear that. Lot over my clothes at home...

Gotta look up this cuddle duds

For working at the computer you might want to get some fingerless gloves. They leave just your fingertips out.

So glad to know I'm not the only one! Pre-op I could sweat so easily because I would get hot really quick but post-op, even immediately after the surgery I was freezing. I will note that my blood pressure dropped significantly during surgery and continues to be much lower than it was prior so I'm thinking that is what has caused it for me? Who knows!

I know this is an old thread, but I actually had a co-worker ask if I was okay the other day. My nail beds were very blue, and my lips had a light blue tint. I was absolutely freezing, despite a sweater and 4 cups of hot herbal tea. I happened to have a follow-up already scheduled with my general practitioner the next day and brought it up. My O2 levels were perfect, and my actual finger tips had perfect capillary responses. Not a circulation problem. Basically she thinks that my body is diverting energy to my core/organs, because of the extreme calorie deficit (I get about 500 - 700 a day and workout a lot).

I live in Louisiana, and it is freaking hot and humid during the summer. First the first time ever, I am glad! I often walk/jog in the early morning before work, and people will say "I bet you can't wait for it to cool down." Oh yes, I can. I am dreading even Louisiana's mild fall and winter! Last winter, after surgery was easy, because I still had a lot of insulation, and I wasn't outside much then. I don't know how I'll bring myself to get out of bed and go jog at 5:45am when it's cold outside...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
