I'm almost 7weeks out and please correct me if im wrong because idk if I can even have it ... But I am getting most my fluids in via orange juice (all natural squeezed) make myself and idk what it is but it's so addicting ... Should I stop? Is their to much natural sugars in it ?

If you're squeezing oranges yourself that's certainly better than from concentrate but I'm thinking you should be hydrating with Water or something comparable (Powerade Zero is my favorite).

Your surgeon has the final word - you should call for this one.

fruit juice, fresh or not, is packed with carbs and sugars. It is likely going to impact your loss, I would stay away from it if it were me.

Are you diabetic?

When my numbers were out of line pre-surgery I would have cravings for OJ and if I had it I wanted more.

I've not had any for over 6 months now and no longer have cravings and am off all meds.

I drink oj at night when I take my Iron pills..It helps absorb the Iron better..

Now I drink G2 Gatorade for hydration..1/2 Water 1/2 G2..works well....you can try that and maybe ease up on the juice....

Run it by your Doc and nut though to be sure...k

I am just reading this in shock that you can even drink orange juice. Even as far out as I am, I have major reflux and the acid in orange juice is the equivalent to torture for me.

I drink a little bit at night too. I take a liquid doxepin for fibromyalgia and I mix it into a little bit of orange juice. Then I take my iron pill with another swallow of orange juice. All together it's at the most a half a cup. I only drink it at night and I haven't had it impact my loss.

As we all know everyone is different and can or cannot tolerate certain foods or liquid...I am a year out and still have issues with pork or beef....But no reflux so i have been able to drink a 1/4 c of orange juice with my pills every night...I chose low acid though maybe that is the difference.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
