Been Plateaued Forever...

Recommended Posts

For the last several months, I have been plateaued big time. Lose 5 pounds and it comes right back. BUT I have an interview on Monday and I am nervous as heck, first interview I have had in over 17 years. So my wife and I went out to find me a new outfit, picked out a dress shirt and slacks and asked my wife to pass judgement. Her opinion? Shirt was too big, I either needed a slim or a smaller shirt. The long and short of it? I ended up with a full inch smaller in the neck and arms and still could have used a slim cut, but couldn't find one. :D

So, the scale has been plateaued, but my body hasn't, it is still changing (Shrinking)

Just goes to show the scales aren't always the best judge of things.

You don't always need the scale to move. Me getting in to smaller clothes is better then a number.

I hear you! I've been plateaued about 8 weeks now, watching the same two pounds bounce back and forth on the scale. But, I've noticed my clothes still getting bigger despite the stalled scale.< /p>

Honestly, I'm to a point that as long as I'm not gaining, I'm totally ok with a scale stall. I know it'll come off eventually and whether that takes a month or a year- fine by me.

I know the feeling.. I have not lost nor gained weight in 2 years now....but I continue to drop in clothing sizes...

I feel it has everything to do with "Body/Muscle Toning" from working out....

Next time I buy slacks they will be an inch smaller in the waist.....that will be a 32" waist, as opposed to a 46" elastic pre-band.

Good post/points Terry...and I know the feeling as well. I haven't lost pounds in a while but clothes sizes are going down as well. Keep up the good work!

And good luck on the interview!!

I was plateaued for about nine months. Well, maybe not plateaued but just not working at it. Had just accepted 180 has my new norm. This summers went dairy free which emirates all the ice cream which I was in denial how much I ate, the cheeses and the half gallon of milk a week. Without changing anything else I dropped 16 lbs in 3 months. I'm working on going gluten free which isn't as hard because I can't really eat bread anyway.

When this happens to me, I go back for 2-3 days max on liquid Protein Shakes and some lowfat greek yougurt. Maybe some light Soups or chicken broth with some spices added for flavor. It jump starts my body and then I start losing weight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
