Are Gummy Vitamins Same As "regular" Vitamins ?

Recommended Posts

I'm 4 days post-op and just discovered I don't like the Bariatric chewable vitamins nor the Kirkland brand multi-vitamins. Does anyone know if the Gummy vits are better tasting, and more importantly have comporable recommended levels. I don't have a bottle of gummies to compare but can check on my next outing. And if anyone has experience, who has the best pricing?

i take the Centrum chewables (they're like orange flavored tabs). i tried to take Gummy Vitamins but my NUT said that's a big no-no because they have more carbs (vitamins have carbs!?) and they don't have Iron in them. apparently no gummy vitamins have Iron in them, so if that's on your list of requirements, you might need to look elsewhere.

I never did the Gummy Vitamins. My program didn't have us start Vitamins u til we started on puree at 4 weeks post op. Just had one more week to go and then I was able to take whole vitamins again. I'm 6 weeks and take my Alive! For women Vitamin.

It's just my preference to take this brand because it's fruit and vegetable based. I tried severao of the gummies pre op and they just didn't cut it it for me.

My nut also said no gummy vitamins, because of the Iron issue and the gummies don't have enough minerals in them. Right now I use Centrum chewables and they are better than the bariatric sample I got from the doctor as far as taste. Pretty much the same as far as nutrition, except post op I will have to take 2 per day

gummies are on my Nut's no list as well. I take 2 Flintstones Complete a day. I take the one's in the purple bottle that have Iron.

I was told no to gummies due to added sugars. Ironically, however, I am told that I will be able to take whole capsules after I am sleeved on the 18th of this month.

We're supposed to take our Iron alone. Iron shouldn't be taken with Calcium so if there is calcium in the multi, the iron should be separate. My NUT said no gummies just because they didn't have all of the same nutrients as a regular chewable multi which is too bad because I live my gummies.

When I was originally going down this path a year ago, I had opened up a poll in the nutrition section looking for everyone's favorite chewable. The one that came out on top was one I hadn't even heard of: Celebrate.

Unfortunately, search only goes back one year, and I think it was probably 14 months ago I posted the poll.

I take Celebrate Multi-Complete. They're a chewable complete multi-Vitamin designed for the VSG patient, and they're delicious! I like the Forest berry flavor, but I LOVE the orange flavor. I suck on them like a lozenge or hard candy, then chew them up once they start to crumble on their own. They really are like a treat! I find them at a good price on Amazon, and get them fast with Prime shipping. My NUT said no to Gummy Multivitamins because they're lacking, but I've heard good things about the gummy Calcium and Fiber chews.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
