I tried those tuna sensations and I couldn't eat it without miracle whip light. I think it was Tomato and basil. I thought it was GROSS. Which flavor is good?

I do eat pretty much like that, but when I looked up the calories in my dinner, it was way more than I thought it was. I usually eat chicken of some sort for dinner, but I have to put something on it or it gets stuck.

Tomato an basil! LOL!!

That one is my fav, the lemon pepper is 2nd, and the thai is so so. But I don't care for spicy and it is fairly spicy. One thing I have learned is that you have to stir it up a bit after you open it. It's firm on the edge of the can and mushy in the middle. If you stir it up it does taste better. BTW, when PB'ing the Thai flavor - do remember that it burns 10x more coming up than it did going down. :(

I was pretty shocked too when I started tracking everything that goes in my mouth. I keep it on a spreadsheet. I track type of food eaten, Protein gms, calories, and weight. I've done so since the day of surgery. It keeps me on track merely by seeing the number of calories growing throughout the day.

What do you use to look up your calories?

You were banded only a few weeks before me. How many fills have you had? I am really looking forward to getting my 2nd one Monday. I get really hungry all the time. I get full fast but it doesn't last. I eat dinner at 5:00 and by 8:00 my stomach is growling really badly and I don't want to eat that late. The same with lunch. I eat at noon and I am starving by 3:00 It's hard.

Can you give me more ideas of what you like to eat? I will try the lemon pepper tuna. That even sounds better than Tomato. I am so sick of not losing! I hope that fill Monday helps!

I use www.thedailyplate.com but most people seem to prefer www.fitday.com. I would switch over to fitday but thedailyplate has my weight history and I don't want to enter four months worth of numbers to fitday. I like seeing the chart with my weight and see how much it has gone down. It's a motivator for me.

I've had two fills and had it unfilled right away both times. I don't tolerate fills well due to swelling. So right now I have an empty band and I still have plenty of restriction.

Yeah, it does sound like you need a fill. I'll bet you do a lot better after you have more restriction.

Half a frozen meal is pretty low in calories esp if it is already a low calorie meal to begin with. One frozen meal is equal to two meals. Just make sure it is a healthy one. Light yoghurt is pretty low cal yet sweet.

Half a frozen meal? I definitely need a fill. I eat a South Beach chicken meal that's chicken and brocolli with no carbs or a lean cuisine same type of thing for dinner sometimes. I eat at 5:00 and at 8:00 I am starving. I do like those

dannon sugar free yogurts. I think they are the best and they have splenda in them. I don't like to eat the yogurts with aspertane in them. It's supposed to be really bad stuff.

I got my resting metabolic rate (RMR) tested about 8 months ago when I tried hiring a personal trainer. As it turns out, I would need about 1900 calories a day to maintain my weight if I were in a coma. Given that I have steadily been gaining weight, I'd have to guess I eat at least 2500 cals on an average day, more on unaverage days.

Getting my RMR tested was one of the most eye-opening things I've done - it really is different for each individual, so the guidelines you see everywhere are virtually useless if you don't know for sure that they match your individual metabolic rate. I realized that when I was on Weight Watchers, I was literally STARVING my body with only 26 'points' per day (about 1300 calories). I cheated every day and still lost weight rapidly, still felt hungry. I was so angry at Weight Watchers for having put me through the mental turmoil of feeling like a failure for finding their one-size-fits-all program impossible. Now I just take caloric guidelines with a pinch of salt, as it were, and try to focus more on what kinds of food I eat. It was such a relief to find out that I really did need more food than the rest of the world said I did! Of course, I'm still eating more than I need, but that's where the band comes in....

Denise, Gortons make a lemon butter salmon thats is really good and it is only 100 cals. You could also buy almost any fresh fish from the market and just ad little fresh lemon and thyme on it, and it does wonders for it. I also use fitday.com for my log, it's really ez.

WASaBubblebutt I won't get banded till the 28th of june, but for the last 5-6 weeks I have only been intaking about 800-900 cal a day and I feel fine as far as my fuel levels goes. I still want to eat more but thats just years of being overweight talking. I think it all depends and where the cals come from, like you are saying. I am 5'8" 300lbs and I work very hard at work and I also work out 4-5 days a week for about 1 1/2 hours so I am loseing weight. and only eating 800 cals a day I still feel like I am getting pleanty of fuel from my food.< /p>

I'm eating between 900-1200 calories a day....My surgery was 1 month ago and I've lost about 15 lbs....this week I feel like I'm at a standstill though...for the past 9 days I've been balancing between 239-240. I need to kick start my body with more exercise I guess - or decrease my calorie intake lol

I agree that getting a resting metobolic test was an eye opener for me too. It showed I have a very slow metabolism, which I already knew. At least my dr. knows I am following his intructions now and will stop wondering why I am such a slow loser.

I am having a great dilemna this whole topic. I just got proper restriction and I can't get in more than about 600 calories. Some days less. Never seems to be more. I am losing nicely but I have limited energy for exercise and I am concerned about my body going into starvation mode but I am not hungry. I have bought some Protein bullets to try and up my protein intake but I don't want to eat/drink them. I am truly not interested in food much. I try to eat protein 1st but I don't always. It seems that I can eat anything, nothing doesn't work, which I am happy about. I would love to go through life eating tiny portions of everything. I hope that starvation mode is a myth but I do know that my workouts are feeling the affects of my lack of food. But if you aren't hungry what can you do?

Adorable,

we are in the same boat. I had my surgery done 4/30 and have gone from 296.5 to 280 - 281.5 (about 15 lbs) Although I am happy with the total weight loss I am still frustrated, like you are, that I haven't seen any significant loss in over a week. My goal was 20 lbs in the first month post op).

I am eating no more than 600 - 900 calories a day. A shake for Breakfast and another for lunch with some chicken or fish and vegs for dinner. sugar free Jello or broth to stop the hunger. I am drinking 4 x 16 oz Water every day.

So my plan like yours is to kick in some exercise. I am going to my doctor tomorrow for the 30 day check up and hopefully for a fill that will give me some restriction.

Hang in there for a few more days and I'm sure you will see some loss. I am tracking my food intake on FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal, it seems to help me stay focused. Although my scales are telling me there is no loss my head is telling me that it has to show up real soon because I have changed my eating habits.

Please post if you have a pound or two loss. I'm sure there are many people out there just like us who would be encouraged by knowing you have gotten over this early plateau.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
