First Day Back To Work/chrismtas Party

Recommended Posts

So yesterday was my first day back to work, I didn't share with any of my co workers what I had done on my vacation. I felt it was nobodies business. My daughters daycare is on sight so I went to see her at lunch time and at my lunch at my desk afterwards. So all and all work when well. My Christmas part on the other hand.........................I am at the puree or mushy food stage. There was chicken I could eat that had a sauce, I was cutting up my chicken VERY small and mixing it with the sauce to make it mushy. My best friend, husband, and a few others were at my table. One lady asked me what I was doing and if I realized I was not cutting up my food for my children. My husband and friend which now........looked at her you b****. I told her I am weird...LOL it shut her up but I got a box and took the rest home to enjoy in piece. How do you handle comments like that?

Today I am so sore and tired............I work at a desk most of the day. I didn't realize it would hurt me the next day so bad.

I let everyone know I had surgery. I shout it out load because I am so happy. It has changed my life in so many ways. I have lost over 80 pounds and I feel that people are going to know anyway. I have lost that in 5 months. They will see you eat small food and miss the office party birthday cakes etc. So I believe they will figure it out anyway. Most of my co workers are so helpful and interested. They actual love to talk to me about it all the time.

I went to the bank yesterday and the teller who knows me did not know it was me. We laughed and and I even told her. I guess that is just who I am. I love to tell people. I know weird. There is many people that don't want anyone to know. I just feel like screaming it from a mountain top because I am so happy.

I haven't told a lot of people. Sometimes someone will notice that I'm not eating much (or the way I used to) and I just say that I'm not sure my stomach can take it today. (No one wants to know more.)

For the work, get lots of rest this weekend. I am fortunate that I work at home (thank goodness for the internet!) but even though I've put in plenty of full days it sure feels different when you can sit on your couch with your laptop than upright in an office setting all day. When I had a different surgery a few years back and was commuting downtown, I swear I fell asleep at 8:00 every night for a month.

It's amazing what people think is appropriate to comment on. Next time someone says anything, tell them they have something hanging out of their nose. They'll think it's a booger and I promise they will forget all about your food. Over time, your eating will get more normal (just less) and there will be nothing to talk about.

Thank you all, my choice to not tell everyone is because I no longer want my weight to be a topic for conversation even if it is on me loosing weight. I have told the people that are most important t me and that I want to be able to talk to this about. I am very happy and proud of my decision don't get me wrong but some people just don't need to know. I can't wait until I am fully healed and a while down the road able to order "normal" food and just have smaller portions. All of the food I make now is normal but mushed.

Memily,

Folks will comment. And I think "because I am weird" is a fine response! MUCH nicer than "F*** Off".

I don't even know if a comment like that deserves a response. Maybe next time you can just get some Soup. You won't run the risk of not being able to eat it or making yourself sick. Not sure how far out you are but in time, no one will even bother commenting as they will realize it is just the way you eat!

The only reason I didn't order soup was because it was not on the menu for the Christmas party, That is my plan from know on until I get further in my diet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
