I Traded Fat For Old!

Recommended Posts

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this but when I look at myself now (in a picture) I look so much older (mor mature) than I ever did before. It's been almost 8-10 years since I've been the weight I am now but I guess part of me expected to look like I used to. Kind of depressing.

i feel younger, I think that I feel younger. My feet don't hurt. I actually ran on the treadmill without feeling like I was going to die. Amazing what happens when you lighten the load by 60 lbs. Yes, I see wrinkles and saggy areas, but I'm happier, more energetic and nicer to everyone including myself. Hang in there, you will get used to the new you. Be good to yourself.

I totally agree.. I'm thrilled with my progress. I just wasn't expecting to look so old.

Nothing some Botox and Juvederm can't fix.

Oh Seela...I spotted your post and even though I'm a bandster, I so feel the same way you do. I also see an old woman looking back at me in the mirror. She has lines around her mouth, bags under her eyes, and a horrible turkey neck. The saggy skin everywhere else, I can hide under clothes but the face....how can you hide that? It's so bad (in my head at least) that I've started seeing a professional to talk about it.

I haven't been this small in 15 years so when I look in the mirror, I have no idea who this 'normal sized' old woman is. I had cataract surgery recently and these brand new eyes were horrified at first at what they saw. Heck...the first thing I did was run to the drug store and buy concealer...LOL.

But seriously...I so get what you are saying. All I can suggest is that you try to remember what I keep telling myself. Looking like this is still much better than the weight I used to carry around with me.

I have heard that once your body settles, your face will begin to fill out again. Hang in there.

Arg.. what a trade off. I guess its better to just be old rather than old and fat???

The way I look at this is that I'm 45 and I'm not supposed to look 25. If my pudginess hid a couple of years, meh. We'll get used to it.

I'm just busy wandering around looking for things to cut with my cheekbones. :P

Get a new makeover,, new chic hairstyle and clothing.. Even shoes. Build some muscle. Just a few suggestions., sometimes your body has to adjust to weight loss so your skin elasticity will get better over time. If not, Try juvadurm for any sagging or shallow areas.

I may look older....but I weigh the same as I did in the 8th grade. And I feel that young. I'm sure I've added 20 years to my life so in the grand scheme of things I have gotten younger. I just don't look it from the neck up. But from the neck down? YES!

We lost 245 pounds between us. Do we look older? Depends on your point of view.

Our wrinkles were being propped up by death dealing fat cells.

Do we act older? Absolutely not.

We took 30-40 years off of the way we act.

Wouldn't go back because of a turkey neck. Let it flap in the breeze, it's a flag of freedom. :D

Seela, you look pretty young. I doubt you look old.

EDIT: Something to consider -- you know how your haircut looks good, bad, great again, erk, wow!, gotta cut it today ...? Chances are your face is going to change many times in appearance before you're through. Your jowls, brow, cheeks, chin, nose ... will all be changing in relation to each other.

And in the end if you don't like how your face looks, you have lots of options. Explore them.

How you feel inside is the most important and not carrying around unhealthy fat!

Getting yourself some new makeup and a new hairdo should hopefully give you a lift.
