Banded 12/6/13! Yesterday!

Recommended Posts

Yesterday was the day!! I love my surgeon, Dr. Grossbard. The procedure went off without a hitch! I'm feeling a little sore, but I'm making sure I keep walking. I have a Jack Russell and a three year old that keeps me moving!! Just wondering how everyone else felt the day after? I'm just so happy and excited about my journey I may be ignoring some of the pain!

Congratulations on making the best decision you can to change your life forever...NOW the fun starts....hang in there, don't get discouraged.....

As far as the day after, I was perfectly happy to to become one with my lazy boy recliner with a comforter, in front of the flat screen, sip chicken broth and Water, and take my pain meds on a regular schedule (if I needed them or not) untill they were all gone....after 3 days of that I started to climb the walls and had to get up and get out....

A little sore and not too hungry...and trying to follow all the new rules and drink enough.

I was a bit teary and had some "buyers remorse" and even was asking myself what did I do to myself, did I make a mistake. My supportive hubby kept reassuring me it was the right decision and all will be alright.

Well, 2 1/2 mos later, no fills to date, eating everything I want without any deprivation, walking, listening to my band, and still learning to walk away from a plate with food still on it and realizing the world won't collapse because of it...

I am 55 lbs down and feeling SO good about myself....

Congrats to you on your new journey...wishing you all the best...keep us posted!

I have made sure to keep moving, the longer I stay still, the worse it hurts to get up! I'm struggling to get enough Water down, but I'm trying. I have some broth warming now and I can't wait to sip some! Thanks for sharing stories and th encouraging words!

I was terrible the day after my mom called me said I scared her I sounded weak, well I just had surgery. As a matter of fact I was on the couch sitting up with my feet propped up. Four days. I admit I don't handle pain well so I couldn't breath past it for nearly a week. Quite the experience but one I'd gladly repeat if necessary.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
