My Lap Band Pre and Post Surgical Goody Bag: What I would put in it.

:nervous You are packing for the surgery, you are taking a bag to help you with any discomforts on your way home. You bring along an ice pack or...

(those who are post surgical help those of us who are presurgical by filling in the blanks)

Thanks!

...I was 2 1/2 hours from home....I brought DW along to drive back the same day....

sweats & a blankie for the snooze while on the freeway....

Thanks Jack!

I'll be flying to and from Denver. Can I expect to be rather sleepy on the whole trip?

Hi Lap Dancer!

Just wanted let you know (if you didn't know already :) )there is a forum that discusses pre/post-op stuff. There's a couple of threads about what to have on hand for post-op, etc. You might want to check them out as well :)

For a flight and a car ride from/to the airport I'd probably make sure I have a nice pillow I could use to cushion myself from the seatbelt.

Maybe a couple of those large Therawrap heat wraps that do not require electricity.

I recommend getting your pain med prescriptions filled before surgery so you'll have your liquid pain killer on hand for your trip.

I also think the heat pad is a good idea.

Good luck. I'm sure you'll be fine.

I agree with the others. I didn't really need much post op except for my Water, a pillow to help hold my sore belly in place and pain meds. I didn't really need the pain meds but I took them just to avoid unnecessary pain. Might as well feel good, right?!

lab-band shopping list

heating pad

flexible ice pack

liquid tylenol (they make adult strength)

chewable or liquid gas-x

a few books or movies

comfy clothes (loose waisted shorts or jumpers)

squishy pillow for car ride (guard against seatbelt)

a sports bra (doc said no underwire for a few days)

protien shakes

flavored water

make sure you have a good blender

I bought a drink mixer for the protien mix (cost $10 at walmart)

broth or stuff to make broth

sugarfree popsicles and jello

sugar free gum (ask your doctor)

sugar free breathmints (ask your doctor)

*Ask at your pre-op for the pain med prescription so you can have it all ready to go when you get home, our walgreens has to order liquid pain meds and it takes 3 days to get them.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
