Had my surgery oct 24th and had my first fill today. My dr gave me 3.5 cc of solution. Then he put me back on liquids (ugh) until Sunday. I just ate a full bowl of cream of mushroom Soup and I felt no restriction at all. Now I'm drinking a full glass of ginger tea and still don't feel restriction. Do you think I should've gotten more of a fill?

No, it sounds just right to me! If surgeon was too aggressive you might not be able to swallow. So slow is better, at leaset for me! Just follow your surgeon's guidelines! Karen

You won't find restriction with liquids unless the band is too tight. Liquids will just flow right through the stoma. Don't judge till you're eating regular food. It took me 3 fills before I felt any restriction and 6 to find the green zone.

Hi Nancy, I just got my first fill, too (Wednesday) and will go back next week to assess for another. I get full on a small amount but am hungry again after a couple or few hours -- I am looking for the 4-5 hour range. It's definitely a process determining whether hunger is real or it's old habit, etc. I'm just happy to be snacking on something like 4 almonds when in the old days I'd have so much more. Then go back for more. Immediately post-band I did not think about food. Looking for that feeling as well. A real dimming of the appetite to the point where the brain chatter is gone.

It may take 3-6 months to find consistent restriction.

The restriction u feel the first few days after a fill is due to the swelling and irritation. Once it subsides u'll be able to eat again.

Any weightloss before the green zone will be according to ur own dieting & exercise habits.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
