Dreamsicle Shake

Recommended Posts

I experimented today and it turned out quite good! In my Nutribullet I combined: 1 scoop nectar Fuzzy Navel whey Protein Isolate (23g protein) two small handfuls (just under 2 cups?) of raw spinach, about 1.5 cups of frozen diced peaches, splash of vanilla extract and some stevia. It's a puke green color but it's really tastes very, very good. It's SUPER thick. Next time I will probably do half of everything.

I have always added veggies to my shakes- spinach and Kale are best.

I'm not right now because I'm in preop phase but after I'm cleared to I will again. It is a good way to get some extra Vitamins in.

That sounds delish! I had the same problem in the Vitamix with them being too thick. But that was MY mistake because I was following a juicing recipe, so once I cut the fruit in half and added a cup of Water, it was good to go!

I hadn't thought of using nectar in smoothies...what a great idea!!! Another flavoring option is Mio or whatever liquid Water flavorings you like. I'm currently hooked on using vanilla Protein powder, a little coconut extract and a squirt or two of Dasani water flavoring in Pineapple-Coconut flavor along with two handfuls of spinach and a big fat carrot. It tastes SOOOO yummy!!!

Normally I use a scoop with 22 oz of Water (fill a shaker bottle to capacity) and a single packet of Crystal Lite (usually a store brand). It dilutes the Protein taste.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
