Thanks Terry. I have my pre-op meeting on 12/23 and I have to do a 10 day Protein pre-op diet....which is making me VERY nervous...does anyone have any suggestions as to what the best tasting/favorite Protein Drink out there might be...one that preferably makes you feel full longer...?

Visalus - you have to order it online but let me tell you its the best EVER! lowest sugar, carb, high Protein, Fiber, great taste NO after yuck. Let me know if you want my link to order it. $99.00 for 1 months supply - money back guarantee if you don't like it. Karen - I drink it daily, as does my husband and our diabetic daughter who swears by it for being the most "filling" - keeps her sugar in-check too!

I used Premier Protein it's 30 grams of Protein and low in sugar. You can pretty much find them everywhere now. They are not expensive and do not leave a nasty after taste.

Yay!

Just follow the instructions given to you, relax and enjoy the ride. It may feel like a long time to go... It will go fast! That last month before my surgery flew! :D

Can you drink soda after you get it done?

Not at first... Some surgeons say never. Give it time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
