Help Lump In My Throat

Recommended Posts

I ate some pepper steak for lunch yesterday and every since then I've had this feeling like something is stuck in my throat. I've tried to drink Water, I tried to make myself throw up, and still had this feeling. Somebody please help tell me what to do!!! This is the most uncomfortable feeling ever! ????

Sorry to hear that. Probably the steak is long gone but possibly you aggravated the throat tissue somehow and there is some minor inflammation. Maybe that steak wasn't well chewed or just the spicy pepper didn't agree with you.

You might try sucking on some ice. The cold ice will ease inflammation.

Yeah I've been freaking out cause when I woke up this morning it felt worst. I know that if you eat too much you can block something. I'm just worried now that it maybe something serious.

Likely OK since you can breath (thankfully) and swallow. I'd say watch it for a day, but DO NOT be shy about contacting your MD to check it out if it does not improve OR if it gets worse!

I would try the ice if it's in your throat. Keep trying Water and if it doesn't go away today I'd definitely call your doc. If it is a blockage you don't want it to sit there too long. But blockages are fairly uncommon for sleevers.

A peppercorn mightve sat in one place too long and given you a little inflammation. If it doenst get better soon, you might need a swallow study.

Thanks all I'm going to go to the Emergency room. It may not have anything to do with what I ate. A friend said it might be tonsillitis because it's sore and swelling.

Try this,

Take a 1/4 teaspoon of meat tenderizer in a very small amount of warm Water and sip it....meat tenderizer is made up of papaya, so you're safe doing this. This should help you within an hour......Trick from my dietician...

Blessings to U

Numenow

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
