Riomet? (Liquid Metformine)

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody! I just came back from my 6 months check up after the lapband and I'm so happy with my lab results. Everything went down to normal! No more high cholesterol or triglycerides problems :) but my testosterone was high so they put me in medication again for my PCOS. Beside a birth control, they doctor decided to put me into Metformine again, to improve my insulin levels and to see if I can keep loosing weight (I've been stuck for a while) but since I can not swallow that huge Metformine pill anymore, now I will be in liquid Metformine called Riomet, anyone else taking this? I'm excited because I hate the bigs pills before and I think liquid Metformine sounds much easier.

You say you cannot swallow a Metformin Pill....you know that for sure?

Some people can, ,some cannot....with your Dr's advice of course....

I always had problems taking big pills, even before the lapband. I was in 1000 milligrams a day, and even with 500ml a day, I just can handle the trauma of swallowing them haha. I just don't want to take a risk to get stuck with a huge pill! (Also, My doctor recommended this, so coming from him, I will give it a try). I think is great to have an option of liquid metformin. I picking up my prescription today in the afternoon :D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
