Slow Weight Loss, Feel Angry And Cheated!

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty pissed off and so sick of this sleeve right now. Don't let the ticker fool you, I lost most of my weight on the pre-op diet. It's been 6 weeks since i've had the surgery and i've only lost 8 pounds since then....8 pounds!!! Before you talk to me about stalls, this isn't week 3 or 4, this is week 6 and the scale refuses to move. Sure i've lost some inches but i'm in freaking limbo right now as I haven't lost enough to drop a dress size and don't want to spend money buying clothes in my current size. Reading posts on this site, I expected to have lost a lot more right now, hell at least 20 pounds, and i'm so disappointed and discouraged. What irks me the most is that i'm over 300 pounds so should be losing faster and was hoping to step up my fitness routine after i'd lost a bit more as it's so uncomfortable and exhausting to work out with this much weight on me.

Honestly, I'm pissed, in a funk and won't be happy if the scale doesn't move in a week or 2. I simply cannot put up with this anymore. I can't keep doing this with nothing to show for it.

I swear I thought I was the only one! I'm 5 weeks out and have only lost a few lbs during the first 2 weeks. I haven't lost a single pound in 3 weeks and I constantly feel hungry. I'm starting to wonder if I should have done the duodenal switch instead...which I guess at some point this can be converted into if needed.

It's quite upsetting and frustrating, like i gave up my stomach for this?!?!!??!!

Can you give us more information so perhaps we can help you? What does a typical day look like? Protein, carbs, fats? How much Water do you get in? Do you measure and track your food? Lots of folks on here can give you some good insight. Good luck to you and hang in there.

I'm so sorry that the scale isn't moving as much as you expected. I'm almost 6 months out & I remember there was another member who was sleeved about the same time as me who also had very slow loss in the first couple of months. Eventually, her loss ramped up (maybe around 8 weeks or so?) & I think she's done pretty well since then. Hang in there just a little longer!

Weight loss is a mathematical certainty. Stay on track. It will happen. Good luck

You said not to mention weight loss stalls, But I believe the "three weeks stall" can last several weeks. I can't advise any more than that because you didn't give much information on what you're doing etc. but it will happen. Hang in.

Hello All,

What i want to say to you is stop stressing over it, people have been known to retain or even gain weight with stress, something our body produces something in response to the stress that does much more damage then good. Stay strong, watch your liquids, I have banned anything other then Water and unsweetened tea.. Also watch your walking, be sure you push yourself everyonce and a while, meaning throw a little "speed walking" in there.

hang in there its not the end.... just the beginning!

I was a slow loser in the beginning, and it took me about 7 weeks to get a good balance between Protein, Water intake, and calories to figure out how to lose weight. I have been losing about 2 pounds a weeks since then and just hit 83 pounds down in 27 weeks. When you aren't getting the results you want it is time to look at the details of what you are doing and make slow measured changes to see what will work for you. For me when I eat fewer than 800 calories in a day, I feel crappy the next day and my weight loss slows for the week. Each person's formula is different, so experiment a little and find what makes your body happy, and ready to lose weight. Good Luck To you!

The scale has not moved for me in 3 weeks. But it is not going up either. Thank you Jesus! Hang in there. I have lost slowly and at times the scale did not move but I knew I felt lighter. Right as I was reading your posts I was thinking why am I not losing? I am going to step it up a bit myself. Good luck everyone!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
