_imgood_ 63 Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) My doctor did not call in the Emendation I needed to take tonight. Did anyone else take this med prior to surgery. My surgery is in the AM. Should I lay on another level of anxiety? Edited December 5, 2013 by _imgood_

magtart 603 Posted December 5, 2013 I never heard of it. What's it for?
AtlantaRed 651 Posted December 5, 2013 Was that Emend? My surgeon's office gave us one today. It is an anti-nausea medication. We only get 1 and we're supposed to take it the minute we walk in the hospital door. They said it works wonders. It's expensive and they told us insurance won't cover it. It's hard to find, supposedly. My Walmart said they could get it by tomorrow and it is $90 for 1 pill. It wasn't required but recommended.
magtart 603 Posted December 5, 2013 I'm sure they can give you something at the hospital. 1 _imgood_ reacted to this

is it just me 80 Posted December 5, 2013 I got a patch behind my ear before surgery
AtlantaRed 651 Posted December 5, 2013 I think all the meds work differently. I have a terrible time with nausea after surgery, even with the patch behind the ear so I am very willing to pay $90 for this wonder drug. The anesthesiologist's NP was saying something about the patch being for motion sickness and did I have that and I said yes! She didn't want me to have the patch and the Emend but finally consented. This is my 3rd surgery so hoping the 3rd times a charm!
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted December 5, 2013 I had none of that and didn't need it. I was given lots of meds post op due to nausea and they worked just fine. For free. 1 _imgood_ reacted to this
Seela 1,187 Posted December 5, 2013 Look for rx discount code for the amend... I can't remember but I found one that lowered my cost significantly. What I didn't know is that if you ask for it upon arrival at the hospital they will give it to you and the costs are absorbed with your surgery costs. Good luck 1 _imgood_ reacted to this
