I would say every 10-12 pounds does it for me. I bought things a little smaller so I could use them longer. Now those are getting to big and I am just going to live in them until the spring clothes come out. It costs to much otherwise.

Thanks! I've been trying to decide. Wear scrubs more than real clothes so will def be looking.

For me it's more like 30 pounds to a different size. I don't know why...

I probably shouldn't wear my bigger, fitted stuff anymore (I've given some of those clothes away.) I am fitting just fine into clothing that I was wearing before surgery, if it was slightly tighter on me (i.e., my bad idea jeans from that time period.) I do have some smaller sizes in my closet, which is a godsend. Yesterday getting dressed for an event, I realized that my go-to black pants from last year were either faded or too big. I stumbled across a formerly way too tight pair that worked fine. And I have a pair of smaller jeans and cords waiting on my shelf until I can really justify them. I can zip them, but they are now the bad idea jeans. Probably another 5-10 pounds and they will be fine.

I go to my local thrift stores and goodwill when I have the time, and peruse the racks. If I find something that I like the looks of and is the right length for me (I'm 5'1", so I'm thrilled when I find anything I don't have to hem), but is too small, I buy it and put it on a certain shelf in my closet. Then, when the clothes I'm wearing are starting to get too loose, I start trying on clothes from that shelf. Its always a thrill when something now fits! I tend to be a bit of a planner, and that gives me some assurance that I can usually find something to wear in a pinch!

The first size feels like forever. In the beginning I tried to prolong as much as possible but once you are out of plus size and can start really shopping - it's downhill.

There is a clothing swap forum on here that might be good. Since my stuff is almost like new I've been selling some of the barley worn things on eBay and using that money to buy new things. Also - old navy is your friend. Cheap and easy :)

I wear scrubs the most as well, thank god for elastic banding in them!! I'm hoping to be able to wear them a little longer than normal clothing

As I lose. We have to wear a certain color, and my hospital gives us a stipend for them each year, I just hope I don't have to spend a ton on them in the next year, those buggers can be expensive!!

Have you seen the Cherokee stretch scrubs? They have these stretchy material panels in them on the sides, super comfortable, and that give of the panel makes a tighter scrub look nice still. I hated it when I sat down, and material would be tight across my stomach. I am loving these scrubs, and I get compliments on them!

Yes. I have a pair. Get compliments a lot too. I just dread buyin new ones. So expensive. A friend of mine had bypass and she does clothing exchange or goodwill.

I also wear scrubs more than anything else. I've needed new ones for a while now but we have been working towards this since April so have put off buying new ones. Will pick up one or two sets before returning to work. For winter clothes, I bought several empire style tops and have leggings to go with. I'll pick a pair or two of jeans (wal-mart, goodwill, etc) as needed as I drop weight. Can't really see spending a lot on clothes until I stabilize at least.

Your right about the cost, can check out uniform city, I have found good sells there. My PRN job not only requires a certain color but also limits us to one brand...Cherokee, one of the most expensive on the market!

I've not bought anything since I started 6month program. Surgery is Monday. I'm planning on getting couple of things at a time. No need for whole wardrobe til reach goal. And there's a clothing exchange here that looks good. I just don't wanna get caught in a bind. Probably buy drawstring so can tighten. Can always add ties to tops. Money is just tight with new added meds and shakes etc.

I like scrubs for wearing at home, and I've been buying them on ebay for a long time. I've never tried selling things on ebay, but now that my 2x and 1x scrubs are too big I'm going to have to either sell them or donate them.

Thanks for the reminder about the clothing exchange on here. I'm going to check it out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
