amyt 0 Posted March 14, 2007 Could someone tell me if they felt virtually no restrictions before their first fill and if they saw a big change after the fill. I am getting filled on Friday and had my surgery on 1/16. I feel as if I can eat anything with no problems. Is this going to change? I am feeling very discouraged. khenry83 0 Posted March 14, 2007 I just had my first fill this past monday march 11th. I know exactly how you feel. I was eating pretty much how I was presurgery and in the couple of days after my fill I am not as hungry and definitely am eating less. Try not to get too discouraged though, it takes time. kima 0 Posted March 14, 2007 Could someone tell me if they felt virtually no restrictions before their first fill and if they saw a big change after the fill. I am getting filled on Friday and had my surgery on 1/16. I feel as if I can eat anything with no problems. Is this going to change? I am feeling very discouraged. Don't be discouraged! I had my first fill last Friday. Before the fill I felt the same thing you are describing-could eat anything without problems (week 3 and 4 after banding). I have much better restriction for now. I know, though, that it is only 5 days out and this may change. If that happens I will get another fill...and so on. I think this is a common occurance. I used to think that you get the band and lose the weight- (before surgery and LBT) but it is more of a process than that. From what I've read the most successful banders listen to their bodies, overcome the obstacles and persevere! Good luck. Try not to give back any of your loss. I'm trying to enjoy the process instead of fighting it. Thanks to the collection of wisdom and advice of all the great folks on this board. Good luck. Let us know how it goes! gretchens4 0 Posted March 14, 2007 I'm glad you asked this question. I am feeling the same way. I can eat pretty much the way I did before surgery (although I try to eat much less). I have lost almost 20 pounds since my pre-surgery diet that I started on 2/17, but it's really slowed down this last week. I forget a lot that I even have the band and am wondering if that's normal. Please let us know how your fill goes and if it works for you. Gretchen:)
amyt 0 Posted March 14, 2007 Thanks to everyone for responding. I feel like my docter's office is so busy, they just want to bang out surgeries with very little follow-up. I also feel that I need to vent and talk to others who are going through the same process. Everyone tells me that therapy is a must in order to succeed. Thanks again. I'll keep you posted. Cath 0 Posted March 14, 2007 I was banded on January 20th and basically 3 weeks after banding could eat as much as I could before (though smaller bites). I got my first fill a week ago and am only able to eat a little (particularly in the mornings) and even more importantly I feel full. The first day after the fill I did liquids and then tried to switch to regular food and had a horrible time. Since then I have been doing mushier regular food (cottage cheese, tuna fish...), though sometimes I surprise myself and can get down some chicken. All I can say is that the fill made a huge difference and I have lost 5 lbs in a week since getting it (my wieght loss had stalled the weeks before my fill). NONNI 0 Posted March 15, 2007 :funscale: I was banded on 2/16 and 1st fill a week ago. I still have no restriction. I'm going for a 2nd fill on the 28th. I hope this one will help! I really starting to get discouraged. But I'm NOT going to give up! I can make it!
lala3000 0 Posted March 15, 2007 I can't wait for my first fill, it is March 26. I am feeling no restriction. I wish I could have a fill sooner too because I feel like my scars and stomach are fine.
juliegeraci 7 Posted March 15, 2007 Yes, it does take time. It may take you several fills. It took me 5 fills to feel optimal level. You will be fine. Just be patient.
