feedyoureye 3,087 Posted December 4, 2013 I have always wanted a real corset. The victorian lace up kind. They are so expensive, and need to be made to order some times. I saw this ad on Bariatric-pal(one of those personalized cookie driven adds Im sure...) for corsets, and cute costume pieces... victorian, steam-punk, burlesque, 50's pin up and such.... Well, last night I bought two of them! They also have light weight costume pieces not made for cinching in.... these are the real deal! http://www.corset-story.com/cdf-106-blue-and-black-brocade-pattern-corset.html (only in silver and black- sale for $25) and http://www.corset-story.com/ge-120-black-underbust-corset-with-tutu-made-to-order.html (only $9!!) feedyoureye 3,087 Posted December 5, 2013 I may strap them on and say "Hell no!" but my hubby, I'm sure will say "Hell Yes!" They do look pretty to me too, a fun addition to my party dress-up cloths.
Chimera 644 Posted December 15, 2013 Wow those are stunning! I can't believe how reasonably priced they are. Good shopping. I have my eye on a pair of distressed slouchy leather boots with lots of buckles - they are a bit pricey for me these days on a teachers pay at $300 - luckily I have been having good luck on Ebay. It is so much fun to buy all of the beautiful sweaters and embroidered jackets that I have always loved from J. Jill used for a fraction of the price - stuff I never could have fit into a coupe of years ago 1 feedyoureye reacted to this
sarsar 824 Posted December 16, 2013 Kim, did your corsets come yet? Do you like them?
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted December 16, 2013 (edited) I wore one to an art opening the other night... No pics(what was I thinking!) Anyway, pretty comfortable, the only thing was all the skin/fat pooched out the top... dont mind if the boobs do that, but the back?! Anyway, the waist looked good and I will take pics next time. It just demands a blouse/dress thats not too tight except in the waist...I wore the little under bust number, and it took 2 inches off... the other one is supposed to take 5 inches off! We will see! sarsar 824 Posted December 16, 2013 Yes, pics next time, please. Do you think they run true to size?
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted December 16, 2013 Yes, pics next time, please. Do you think they run true to size? There are extensive measurement charts to check with. One of the things I got said it was a 10= Large... I usually wear an 11-12... and it fit just fine. Check the charts to make sure...
M2G 1,836 Posted December 31, 2013 Omgosh those are beautiful! Maybe THAT is what I need instead of plastics. Although I'm 100% sure I would have the back fat pushed up. Sigh. 1 feedyoureye reacted to this
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted January 20, 2014 I ended up wearing the demi-corset(goes to just under the bust...only takes off 2 inches...)... took not great photos, but judge for yourselves! Also some from the party too.... It was as awesome as I could have hoped it could be! These people you are seeing in the photos are all guests, there where rooms and rooms of "oddities", art, peep shows, puppet shows, plays, musicians, DJs, live painting, contraptions, psychics, and great venders, lots of hand made hats, cloths, jewelry and the like.... perhaps 7 big rooms of cool stuff, a bar in every room.... the ladies room had two "feinting couches" in it and lots of ladies sitting down because the corsets were so tight! There must have been 300 corsets in attendants, and the men looked fantastic! Really got into dressing up too. San francisco is great for that! 1 Chimera reacted to this
sarsar 824 Posted January 20, 2014 Kim! How fun! You look great...love the purple hair, too. Corsets must be what's in right now, huh? Is that your art that you're standing by? It looks like a self portrait from a while ago. Did you go alone?
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted January 20, 2014 HI Sar, That is a piece of my art from about 3 years ago. I submitted my work to the guy that selects the art for the event (my second year submitting) and at the last minute he said he loved it, and took 3 pieces. He put them in a nice prominent place, with decent lighting, so that was all good. I went with my bellydance teacher and friend. We got a room to change and crash in, and really had a blast. Thanks! The purple hair looks pretty styley all pilled up on top, made me want to rat it up more often. Well the corsets were certainly in style last night! There were some really great high end hand made corsets there too... there was one little room that was called "the peep show" where beautiful burlesque ladies in extra nice corsets and stockings stood on a tiny stage and got ogled by anyone who wanted to. It was a hoot! 2 Chimera and sarsar reacted to this
Globetrotter 1,340 Posted January 20, 2014 So I know that I am a gigantic costume snob, but apparently nobody knows what Edwardian means!!!! From what I could see, everyone was wearing clothes from the time of the Great Land Race, circa late 1870's. Edwardian refers to the time just after Queen Victoria died up to the Great War. A front apron, back-bustle skirt wouldn't have been worn for at least 30 years by then. Now, snobbery aside - you looked fan-freakin-tastic! The hair was amazing, how long did THAT take?
