Today marks 2 months and 51 pounds gone forever! I am thrilled with my surgery results.

However, I wish I could feel "happy" about my overall health and wellness. I have struggled with nausea, fatigue, Constipation, gas, bloating, discomfort, depression - I know all 'normal' elements of this life changing journey, but I thought the sailing would be smoother by now.

I feel my poor family is going through the wringer with me as they always have to put up with me feeling horrible and taking breaks, sleeping or cutting things short. Especially my husband. He's SUCH a good sport and my biggest cheerleader and support but I am feeling for him now. This recovery period has really taken it's toll on me and those I love. Everyone continues to encourage me and tells me "it will only get better and better", but I know I walk through this alone really and truly.

I have contacted my surgeon multiple times about the discomfort and pains and nausea etc, etc, etc. I do what he suggests - walk, Water & Protein, but it just doesn't seem to want to shift. He tells me it's 'normal' and while that should bring me comfort, after 2 months, I want to scream at him! I'll have one or two good days followed by 5 miserable ones. It seems the afternoons-evening are the hardest times for me.

I'm hanging in there and waiting for the day I will feel as good as I'm starting to look.

Are you taking B12? Maybe you can ask your doctor to have your blood tested. A lot of people feel tired due to Vitamin deficiency. Also is there anyway you can take a late afternoon nap? I know this may not be possible due to work schedules but even a 15-20 minute nap can help if you are dragging by evening. Don't be so tough on yourself your body is going through a huge change. Things will get better. Also think about how tired and aches and pains you felt when you were carrying 51 pounds extra.

I'm only two weeks out but I had a nasty rerun of gas pains and all of a sudden harder time drinking, my surgeon suggested I double up on my reflux meds(I felt 0 reflux for the first time in years bc I had a hernia repair) but with in days I was back to (new) normal! Are you on anything? Might be worth inquiring about? Would be sad if all the tummy issues could be helped so easily! I hope that helps some!

I too just recently started having hard time eating/drinking. I'm 3 weeks out and it all feels like it gets stuck in my chest and been having bad reflux/indigestion problems also. Going to doc Thursday so gonna ask what I can take for it and pray it helps. I know how u feel when u say u feel alone in this even though u have so much support bc I too feel that way sometimes. Good luck

You are 2 months post op and these things take some time..It's very frustrating to have to put up with these symptoms but they will go away. I do notice when I eat too much I do feel nauseous for a bit. I am 2 years out and I still take my omeprazole.....You stomach is most likely still swollen from the surgery so be gentle with yourself and eat foods that are easy to digest in small portions (I know, you can only get so much in). BTW remember this is the time that you are going to have a lot of hormones fluctuating in your beautiful body that's transforming right now....Love and Hugs to you... :P

Another thing... I'm almost 7 weeks out and still have trouble getting in all my Water. When I don't get enough everything is just bad. But on the days I do get enough I feel like a normal person. Just a thought.

Preop here. Just a question... Why does one get gas without gassy foods? Does it just happen as part of the stomach healing?

Good question. In the first couple weeks it's directly attributed to the gas they pump into you during surgery. Aftrr that.. no idea! Lol

I have found that Beans, cabbage and certain fibrous veggies give me more of a "gas reaction" than other foods. But, also, the digestive process produces gases for any foods and with little room for it to disperse, we feel every bit of it.

Seela, I think the Water thing has so much to do with my down mood. I can't believe it, this past week has been down right depression, like NOTHING is making me feel happy or joyful. I know there's an aspect of your old relationship with food having to "die" but this is just ridiculous. I'm crying at the drop of a hat and not laughing like I used to and NO I'm not pregnant!

Been there.. once you start figuring outways to get more hydrated you'll feel better. Good luck... I'll be thinking about you.
