Next week I am leaving for a week long vacation to visit my daughter at Disney World. I have been there many times in the past but I am concerned about managing the rigors of traveling at 7 weeks post-op. Any ideas or recommendations to prepare for such a high energy trip? There will be airports, restaurants and a lot of theme park stresses such as 6-7 miles of walking each day and lots of standing in line. All suggestions appreciated :)

Pack Jerky, Protein, nuts (if you're allowed), gas x, and tums and flavor packets for waters. Take good compression socks for walking and comfy shoes and a heat pad in case you get sore at night.

BerryChic

Branmuffin gave good suggestions

you could also bring a "Branmuffin"

Protein bars too in an emergency - (i go overboard cuz they taste so good, gotta be careful)

i have a small blue insulated "lunch bag" that i usually leave the house with

i'll have 2 1/2 frozen bottles of Water, or 1 bottle with a yummy greek lite and fit yogurt

standing in line, thinking about food?!!!! Get over it :D

i can see B) the determination and strength that you have in your pretty eyes ;)

all that walking - i don't have to tell you how great that is, so i won't ;)

7 weeks PO - you can and will be successful!!!

have a wonderful trip :)

tell your daughter i said hi ;)

good luck

kathy

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
