Any Body Else Think Their New Body Is Gross

Recommended Posts

So I have lost about 50 pounds since my surgery, and while I would like to have lost more weight, that is a tangent. The real point is I am starting to notice my body is making changes for the worst not better. I dont really know how to describe it, Im hangy, droopy, wavy, loose, cellulitey etc.I am glad to be losing weight, but I recently accidentally discovered that I have thigh hang on the inside of my upper thighs. The skin is lose and Im pretty sure empty of anything other than skin. It hangs equally from both thighs and makes the front of my thighs look gross and full of cellulite. My boobs are pretty much dead, they have mostly disappeared and they lay on my thighs like flat sand filled socks one might use to stop a draft from under a door. When I put my arm in the air to put on deodorant a big donut of fat slides down to the top of the arm, Finally I have lost 5 inches off my booty. Please tell me this gets better, I am kinda scared that the more weight I lose, the more skin will appear to ooze from unsuspecting places, while my boobs and booty continue to disappear. Does your body appear to be melting too? How are you dealing with /fixing it? To clarify, I think my old body was gross too but am surprised to find that i prefer the before to the after pictures.

I've lost forty odd lbs. and have lots of sag and jiggle. But I wouldn't trade it for my fat self. I'm 53, so I was expecting a lot of loose skin. I plan on plastics at the end of the journey.

I have some sag & weird jiggles, too, but I'm trying to accept that as my "dues", I guess. My body has carried me through a lot in the past & it continues to carry me now. I feel so much better & I'm so happy that I can walk & move without pain. I'm working out & getting stronger, too. I'm 49, so I knew going in that my skin would likely not bounce back very well, but I sure do feel better now.

I like the way you describe how our bodies can change with the weight loss! I know you want to hear that it gets better, but I'd be lying if I said that. I deal with it by focusing on what I have gained as far as activity and functionality. Plus good shape wear. And trying not to look in the mirror until after I get my now smaller sized clothes on!

I'm down 120 lbs. My sleep apnea us gone. My blood pressure is low. I can walk and exercise without feeling like I'm dying. My asthma us gone. Do I have loose skin? Yup...lots of it. I sag. I jiggle. I don't like it, but I knew it was probably going to happen. I wear good foundation wear, and try not to sweat it. I will probably never be able to afford a full body lift, but ya know what? My saggy butt will be around to see my grandkids. And it's not like my 300 lb.body was so attractive...I tend to forget that. For me, I need to always remember that my primary reason for doing this was for health. I've got to keep my perspective.

The description of melting is perfect. I am with deaddemmama, I am 53 and am delighted I will be around for a lot longer to come as a result of my weight loss. Wasn't planning streaking around neckid any time soon so will take the sagging and wobbly bits as the trade off. As Seela says, working out has helped a bit too...

But my boobs will be redone next year because I have always wanted them to sit above my waist lol!!!!!

As sad as it may be, many of us will have sagging, wrinkly, droopy skin; including myself. Would I trade in my health, energy, lightness and the ability to be wearing a size 6, which I may add have never in my life done so before; NEVER would I trade it. I have the option of more plastic surgery but I think to myself where will the surgery end? One thing I like to say is I need a couple inches remove up the side seams!

My leg are not ideal in appearance when I am naked. They, too, look like melting candle wax around the inner thighs. That said, they can now carry me at a good jog. My knees no longer hurt. My feet no longer ache after sitting for too long. I can wear lovely heels all day long and be comfortable. They allow me to chase my dog, keep up with my kids, carry me through a kickboxing class with enough energy after to do another or go shopping or anything else I want to do. (I can also wrap them all the way around my husband without... ooooops! Wrong room. ;) )

My butt is droopy now. Droopy or not, it fits in size 12 pants easily and is now leaning towards a size ten. It no longer has to be squeezed into a seat at the theater and it can get me past people in tight aisles without rubbing up against anyone. I can put my handbag in the same seat WITH me anywhere I go and I have no fear of seat belts on planes or amusement park rides.

My boobs are a bit longer. Mr.Lipstick still wants to put his face all over them. They still look great in a sturdy Victoria's Secret Bra. They are still healthy and cancer free despite my family history.

My belly is loose and has more rolls than it did when it was fat. My 55 pound dog can now fit all the way in my lap, though. I can sit in a booth without my boobs resting on the table. I can now see past my belly and see the smaller number on the scale. I can wear shorter shirts (no, not crop tops!). I can bend over to paint my toe nails comfortably (but why do that when I can pay someone $8 to do it for me?).

My arms are hangy and loose like a really old lady. They can still propel me through an hour of laps easily. They can still lift weights and I can even wear a sleeveless top. As an added bonus, if I lift my arms and flap my wings, I might even learn to fly!! It is now a straight line from my shoulder to my elbow instead of an outward C shape of fat. Most importantly, I have added years and years to my life allowing me to wrap my floppy arms around my loved ones for that much longer. Years I never would have had with my fat body.

Do I look ideal nekkid? Nope. Am I getting healthier every freaking day? ABSOLUTELY!!

I guess I expected to have some loose skin but not everywhere and not already. If my thighs can be tied in a bow I dread what they will look like when I have reached my goal. Lipstick Lady if I was a size 12 Im sure I would be a lot more optimistic but I still wear my size 24 and 26 clothes, while they are a little baggy, I can roll the pants down and they fit fine, which is discouraging.

Our secret, don't tell anyone...

will be 60 years YOUNG next month  ;)

age has alot to do with how your skin "shapes/tightens" up after you've lost weight

first thing i noticed was my rear end was/is gone, no kidding!!! ;)

but it was so big before, i don't/didn't mind the drastic change ;)

my skin did tighten/firm up about one year PO, goal

if you are a youngun' or so, skin will/should firm up better :)

i would rather have some lose skin that is hidden with clothes - than be fat, fat, and fat!!!!

50 lbs down, terrific !!!!!

good luck

kathy

congrats

Well said Lipstick Lady! Remember droopy skin can be covered with cloths -fat can't.

My favorite part of what you said. And I loved all of it.

I am 53 years old and have lost 76 pounds. I definitely have loose skin all over the place but I can hide it. I can't hide the smile on my face though! I never expected to find my bones again ever but there definitely there and I can feel my butt bone when I am sitting. That puts a smile on my face also! I have noticed that when we lose the scale obviously goes down and when we are stalling or losing a small amount the inches go down. With that said I have also noticed during those slower times my skin tightens up a little more. It's not perfect but it is tightening more than I expected. If I ever get the money together to tighten up what I didn't naturally I will. But until then I will giggle happily for all the nsv's that I have experienced and the ones to come. It's all good so don't worry you are getting healthier with each day that passes! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
