Any January Surgery Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Make sure you have a heating pad ready for any possible gas in your body. It helps alleviate any gas discomforts. The surgery itself was a piece of cake for me. I drove my car the next day and attended a Weight reduction meeting at my local hospital. I had very little discomfort. Pain liquids were prescribed but I wasn't affected. Remeber to SIP the Water and NO straw. (causes you to suck air bubbles).

Best wishes and Keep the Faith

Hi everyone. Am back and feel a bit like I've been through the ringer but two days out and feeling much bettrr already. One day at a time and am looking forward to some yoghurt and milk from tomorrow onwards.

I was so nervous going in but will be glad in the end I did it. One top tip is a hot water bottle for the gas pains, they can be quite painful and the heat is really soothing xx

Hey everyone, I am NEW to this site and I am a January Bandit!!

I am a 37 year old mother of 2 boys ages 12 and 3. I am from NY.

I will be getting my surgery on January 22nd. I have not had my preop work and I start my 2 week all liquid diet with 3 Protein Shakes a day on Jan 8th. I came on this site looking for people feeling what I am feeling, anxiety, excitement, support and encouragement. I got EXACTLY what I was looking for. I wish everyone nothing but success and goal weights!!! I am excited to start this journey with you all.

Good luck slinkie! You'll be fine, although I never really believed it myself before hand. Just woke up after an epic 10 hour sleep again, could do with some more to be honest. Looking forward to some yoghurt later as I really haven't been managing many calories during the day. Am going to start formulating a soft food/mushies menu for next week. That should keep me entertained today!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
