I had my surgery on Jan 22. Mine went pretty much the same as Msirish. One second I was chatting to the OR nurses and then the anesthetist came in and put in the IV. I looked over at him and he gave me my cocktail for the afternoon, then I was waking up in recovery. This is the first time ever in my life that I don't remember a single thing what happened. My shoulder ached, and my stomach felt like I swallowed a rock or two. Other than that, it was like be woke up from a very peace full slumber, but kind of startled. The nurse wanted to keep me awake right now and to get my bearing of where I was. I flew home from the city where the surgery was performed on Friday(that was a very long 4 hour flight), and even this morning I was still asking myself.. what just happened? Tonight I am starting to feel good. Shoulder pain all gone in 36 hours, incision pain subsided. Now my stomach is growling. I don't feel hungry, but I ate the minimum from the diet plan. Now I am excited to find out what will happen next.

Good luck to everyone.

Everyone tells you to wear a house dress, but from immediately after surgery I've preferred yoga pants. The kind you normally fold down, but I leave them unfolded up almost to my bra. Soooo comfy. The support is awesome in my opinion.

Being a 41 year old man, I refuse to wear a house dress or yoga pants (lol). I'm just going to wear my sweat pants and an older t-shirt to the event tomorrow.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I feel like Annie. I am so excited and yet still thinking what if I cant pass the final exam. I am on meds for a urinary infection..sure hope it is cleared up. Have turned into a germaphobe this week. Afraid I will catch a cold or something. Pray for me and I will keep you posted. I know I can do this because I have so many cheerleaders on this site. Well good luck to all and we will all soon be on Feb. post op site..

I was banded This past Thursday. First few days was in so much pain from the CO2 they fill you with! Yesterday most of that was gone and I'm just a bit sore still from incisions. I'm getting worried because tomorrow I go back to school an 8hr day and Friday I'm back to work (as a nursing assistant). Also working on getting all of my fluids in because I feel a bit dehydrated this morning! I'm sick of liquids but hubby brought me some progresso Tomato Soup yesterday and that was to die for since I was craving Italian food haha. The head hunger will be the toughest thing but luckily a lot of great Italian food can be low carb just without the pasta!

Also, good luck to everyone being banded tomorrow and the rest of this week! If I could do it you could do it! I'm the biggest baby ever lol. Luckily my pre-op nurse was awesome and my OR nurse was great at talking to me to ease my mind and distracted me at all of the craziness going on when we entered the OR. I felt so comfortable!

Congrats on being banded. I was banded last Tuesday.. Be careful at work though since we're not supposed to lift a lot and CNAs tend to lift a lot.

Yes traditionally we do but I work in postpartum and don't really lift anymore. (used to a lot in geriatrics). I'm worried about bending when I have to help patients change underwear

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
