Any January Surgery Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Everyone is different. I found day 2-3 to be the worst as far as incisions/moving around, after the hospital meds wore off, but I know some people have very little pain.

I hope I don't have too much pain. I am having knee and lower back pain now due to the weather.

I didnt have too much pain, it was just uncomfortable at the incision points during the hospital stay. Once i was home, after being in overnight, i was fine. Managed on one pain killer a day and hot Water bottles. I think everyone is different

That is true I am trying to get an idea of what to expect.

I am home now from surgery today. My stomach feels bloated and there is slight pain on the biggest incision which is, I guess the port. They glued the incision no stitches. I don't feel gas pains yet. I am really tired slept all day. Doesn't hurt to walk, but it is slow. I am sipping Water when I am awake. It is like you instinctively know not to guzzle. I did have Jello maybe three bites. No Protein today.

Successful surgery on Wednesday the 15th! Surgery is a piece of cake!! Honestly, couldn't have gone any better. I work from home, so I have been working since I walked back in the door from surgery :) Yesterday, I took it easy (although, I did walk 1 mile) and today I took a shower and took off the bandages! So far so good. My biggest issue is how I am going to get all my pills down. I'm tackling them one at a time. I haven't weighed yet, but probably will tomorrow.

I'm on my journey, and I will be keeping up with all of you, too!

I am officially one of banders, with my Surgery on Wednesday the 15th,. I am sore and swollen still but feel better today. Gas pain is the worst-it comes and goes. I just keep moving and sipping away in hopes that each day gets better.

I feel you! The first week on clear liuids was surprisingly easy for me as far as hunger. Once i hit day 9 or 10... I started getting a little famished. Dr said i wont feel much restriction yet either cuz i havent had a fill yet. I think im mostly filling up on all these liquids we r supposed to sip all day

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
