Retailtherapy 14 Posted December 31, 2013
Hello troupes!

Well just had my final pre-surgery consultation, met the anesthesiologist (sp?) and had bloods done. Am also going to pay for them to test my thyroid profile too as I am curious to know exactly what is going on in my blood and hormones. Pre-op diet started and am currently chugging away some chicken noodle Soup. I have been given a very slack list of just yoghurt, broth and if I feel hungry - cucumbers...although i can have as much of any of these as I want.

Need to pick up some Protein Shakes, although I have a really good tub of chocolate Protein Powder already which is only about 100cals a glass and 3g of carbs.and 20g of Protein. So I'll finish this one perhaps before buying more.

Surgery is at 10am on Saturday, which as most of you are USA based, means it will be all done by the time you get online so I can hopefully fill you in on everything - what it feels like, the pain, the procedure etc etc. Not going to lie, I am nervous. The idea of having surgery still seems drastic to me, but its necessary and the results are going to be brilliant.

How is everyone else feeling in the run up to surgery? DP x
You have the perfect outlook.Hit home when I read it.I am being done Jan 9th and am super excited and super scared all at the same time.I am very pleased with the answers I have gotten and without asking questions you never get peace of mind.My decision is the right one.I can do this.It is my chance to be who I want to be...Good luck to you and keep us all posted... We are movin' on to that little black dress. 1 blueturtle reacted to this
adesuwa 12 Posted December 31, 2013 I'm being banded on the 11th. Only my husband knows that am being banded... I have three children from the age of 5 to 8 months.... I'm so nervous, but I also know that without this surgery am scared of how much more weight I may put on... I am currently 284lbs 5,8ft but since starting my pre-op diet on the 26th I've already lost 9lbs and currently stand at 275lbs..... I don't know whether to set myself a goal target cause it feels so far away.... Good luck everyone 2 Retailtherapy and blueturtle reacted to this
slinkielovin 58 Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) 7 months ago I got together with my support team and decided that I wanted to loose 100lbs before my surgery. I didn't have a surgery date yet and was just working on that goal and waiting for insurance and stuff to get situated. Then they told me that my pre op is the 6th and my op is the 7th! I went in for my final goal weigh in and I've lost 118 lbs in 7 months! I'm so excited to get this done and be on my way to even more body changes and new experiences! bikeryder 9 Posted December 31, 2013 I start my pre-op diet the day after tomorrow! I think I'm more nervous about the pre-op than actually getting the band. Anyone else starting pre-op diets in the next couple of days? Any strategies for easing hunger during pre-op? I am stocked up on Vitamin Water Zero, and will get some diet soda as well. I start my pre-op diet on Jan 2 & from what I understand from my surgical center is you can not have any carbonated drinks.. 1 MzEboni912 reacted to this

Shelly2221 126 Posted January 1, 2014 Happy New Year everyone. Today I started on weight watchers to try and lose some weight before the surgery. We don't do the liquid pre op diet here in Israel. Jan 22 is right around the corner. I'm also super excited and nervous. I feel that I'm really dedicating 2014 to eating right and losing the weight. I would love to be at my goal weight a year from now. How's everyone else feeling? 1 blueturtle reacted to this

I would love to be at my goal weight a year from now. How's everyone else feeling? Hi Shelly! I'm awaiting insurance approval, but started a low calorie, high Protein diet on 12/21 and I'm down 10 lbs. I'm pretty sure that what I'm eating now will be similar to the diet that is recommended "post band" --- but hopefully I won't be as hungry post band. I'm eating between 700 and 1000 calories per day. I know that without the band, I won't be able to keep this up long term cause I'm so flipping hungry!!! LOL. I've completely eliminated carbonated beverages and all bread products. Eating fresh fruit, Veggies, Protein shakes, cottage cheese, yogurts, fish, etc. Like you, I am super excited but also nervous. I've read both success and horror stories, but those who are successful are the ones who follow MD orders and have routine follow up visits. I'm determined to make 2014 the year to shed this excess weight by making better, healthier choices. I started at 262 lbs and would be over the moon to hit 160 (although I'd be pleased with anything under 200). Supposedly, I should have an answer from insurance by 1/10 but I'm pretty anxious - wish they'd hurry up! Happy New Year and good luck! 1 Retailtherapy reacted to this
slinkielovin 58 Posted January 1, 2014 118 lb weight loss in 7 months?!?!?! Congrats to you - what's your secret? My dr told me to cut my calories down to 1200 a day, walk my tushy off, drink lots of Water, no sugars, smaller portions, and I started to drink a Protein Drink where on two days a week I would have two shakes a day and one meal. At first I felt like I was hungry all the time, but then I started to notice that I wasn't so hungry as tired. I made sure I got in my 7 hours a night and I started feeling really energized! My dr also advised that I quit smoking even though I only smoked 4 cigs a day. My quit day for smoking was 11/03/13. That has been helping me with energy! Hopefully soon it won't be so hard to move around but thankfully it is easier to breath!
