sumlike2h8 0 Posted March 14, 2007 I had my 1st fill 3/8/07, they put in 1cc and I have a 10 inch band. Doc says my band holds about 4 cc's. I do not feel any restriction yet. Is this normal? I know my friend said she didn't feel restriction until like 10 days after her 1st fill. Has that been the case with anyone else? I'm getting discouraged here, I'm losing tiny amounts, 2 to 3 pounds ever 3 weeks. I thought by now I'd be down like 30, my surgery was 2/5/07. Am I unrealistic here or does my band not seem to be doing much for me? I know my doc says at this point it's the band doing 20% and me doing 80%. But heck, if I had 80% self control I'd have never been fat to start with! Thanks!
klikens 0 Posted March 14, 2007 I had my surgery 1/17/07; first fill 3/2/07 - to date I have lost 28 lbs. - but no, I did not feel restriction before my fill nor after - the weight I have lost has been me pushing back the plate - not the band. Everyone says that it may take 2-3 fills before actual restriction takes place. I am right there with you on the waiting thing - very discouraging I know, but I try to remind myself that I didn't gain 100 lbs. in 2 months, so I am probably not going to lose it that quickly either. Good luck!
christiana 0 Posted March 15, 2007 I'm glad to see you guys are in the same boat as me! I lost about 14 lbs. and have actually gained about 4lbs back since my surgery. I had my first fill yesterday and the doctor watched me drink Water and asked if I felt any restriction and I didn't feel anything!!! He gave me 2.5cc and wouldn't go anymore than that but I don't feel any different than when I went in there. I am starting to feel like the whole band is going to be just another failed diet!!! I have to keep reminding myself that this is different, but I still worry that something's not right etc. Good luck to you both!
*susan* 1,709 Posted March 15, 2007 When it comes to fills, one needs to be patient. Most people do not reach proper restriction until after their second or even third fill. And, sometimes it does take up to a couple of weeks for the fill to kick in. I think it is better to approach fills slowly rather than too aggressively. Believe me, I have been overfilled and you do not want to go there.
