January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

Recommended Posts

I am on day 2 of my 3 day liquid diet and I have the worst headache! My surgeon does not require a pre op diet and I was going to do the 3 days of liquids, but I want food already!

Did u quit caffiene ahead of time? If not it may be that. I had a carb headache from no sugar, so that is possible too. It is gonna catch up eventually. Try just a couple of sips of coffee or fruit juice.< /p>

I did it ahead of time and slowly. Im a coffee hound, so I went with half caff for a couple of weeks and then started drinking all Decaf. I suggest that to anyone reading this!!! Carb withdrawl is bad enough. Im not quite a week past surgery and still getting headaches... but they ciuld be much worse. Im glad I prepared as much as I did.

I'm just trying to do one on my own to help shrink my liver some. Even tho my surgeon doesn't require it, I figure it can't hurt anything. I am just scared of complications and willing to do whatever to prevent them.

I'm just doing the Protein Shakes twice a day and one small low carb meal. Lots of Water and of course mag citrate to clean me out. It's probably the nurse in me but I feel it's better than nothing!?! :)

Sending up prayers for your successful surgery also...they key in my opinion is to go slowly with your sips and to start walking the minute your doctor lets u out of bed. Best wishes

Thanks so much I will walk as soon as they get me started and actually I am a little scared with the whole drinking after surgery so I guess after Thursday I will be able to encourage others god willing :)

My surgery is tomorrow. I have so much nervous energy. I think I have done 6-10 loads of laundry. I stopped counting at 5. I have made lists for both kids for everything under the sun about their daily activities for my husband and mother in law. I still can't wrap my head around surgery being tomorrow morning. Can't wait to get healthy!!!!!

No preop diet, but I am going to take it easy tonight. I have to be at the hospital by 5:45-6am. Omg!!!!! So much nervous energy I don't know what to do with myself. I am going to start cleaning when everyone wakes up. I think

It might be all the snow we got lastnight, as well. Sorry I am rambling.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
