So 5 days post op today no pain just still trying to get Water in having no issues with Protein Shakes, having sugar free popsicles and yogurt with no problems but I was never a big water drinker so its hard to even get 16 oz down I think I will never meet my 48 oz daily goal.

First post, now that I have my date in hand, I figured I'd sign up for future support!

Going in for my Gastric Sleeve on Jan 28th,

I start the pre-op diet on the 14th. Pre-op diet is 3-4 Protein Shakes and one 260-370 calorie meal depending on how many shakes I've had.

I'll be on the same pre-op diet, starting on the 13th...my surgery date is January 27th. I guess we should be thankful that we weren't put on the all-liquid diet, huh? I've heard several people put on all liquids...I'm sure we'll have plenty of time for that post-op!

Had my surgery Monday. After I left the recovery room, I felt like I could do cartwheels! I think I got a little cocky, because the second day was harder. Pain was never an issue, but I fought with nausea the whole second day. I couldn't keep anything down, but my doctor released me anyway because he said today would be much better. Thankfully he was right!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
