I am January 20th in Roanoke, VA with Dr Tananchai Lucktong. I start my liver shrinking diet on Monday. 2 shakes and a Lean Cuisine. Getting a little nervous now!

I start mine next week...mine is similar. I noticed that a lot of people do three shake and no meal.....but my doc said the two shakes and a Lean Cuisine.

Hi everybody just discovered this app and I m not sure how to use it properly but so far really happy to hear about ppl preparing for their surgery. My date is the 7th of January and it will be in Boedeaux France. I know I didn't see many people outside of the US on the site and I can only see that the process is not really the same. For ex I am not supposed to do any pre op diet, and although it might seem great as I can "enjoy" Christmas meals with my family, I feel really strange about not doing anything to prep for the surgery. According to my surgeon studies didn't show any significant difference in results of the surgery and that' s why he doesn't prescribe it. Anybody got the same feedback from the surgeon? Btw nice to meet you all and looking forward to support you and be supported in this journey!!!'

My doctor asks for a low-carb pre-surgical diet but told me that it is optional for me since I am on the lower end of BMI (36). I am following a low-carb diet pre-surgically anyway before my Jan 14 surgical date. It will improve my blood sugar and be good for my liver. I agree though - so many people are talking about strict regimens that I feel a bit weird about it.

My nutritionist and doctor say no pre-op diet as well. Yes, I agree it feels strange so I am def going to watch it the week before surgery. (Scheduled for Jan 27th)

I'm new to this so not sure how this works. My surgery is January 13, 2014 in Muskegon, MI by Dr. Gluck . I Have not told to many people because I think I'm scared it's not going to work. I've seen the result so I know it will work with hard work and determination. I used to be a big Diet Pepsi drinker not since I've started the liquid diet, I'm learning to drink the Protein Drinks and the Protein flavored Soups. Done great with no pop the protein drinks had to search for one that I liked and that I could have and the soups are not to bad. Would like something to chew, but oh well that will come in time. The second day I started to get a headache and it's lasted until today. The first day of the headache was bad, but started to fade off now none. The first couple of days I was starving, but now I'm good as long as I keep to my routine. Today I had to go get blood work done and had to fast from 8:00 pm last night and never got out of hospital until 9:45 so I was starving. It took me all day before I got myself back on track. I'm not looking forward to the day before surgery when it's Clear Liquids only. Good Luck To Everyone We Deserve This.

Blueeyes49508

Blueeyes49508...I'm scheduled 1/13/14 also....I'm in central fl. 5'3" 220 bmi 38.4. I'm having a hard time on the preop...my MD requires 2protien shakes + 1 lean meal.(no carbs). I cant find a good tasting protein, what are you using? I too have day prior clear liquid requirements...sending up prayers for your speedy recovery and future successful weight loss :-) Best wishes to us ALL!

Hey January Sleevers!

When I wake up tomorrow the t-minus 10 day countdown begins. WOW!

I thought it would never get it here and now...here we are.

I started a liquid diet yesterday and besides being a bit grumpy I'm good.

Any other January 16th Dr. Aceves folks out there???

Best wishes to all!

Have any of you tried Premier shakes? They are ready to drink and do not have a funky Protein after taste. They come in chocolate and vanilla flavor. I get mine at Sam's or costco. I use Torani or DaVinci sugar free syrups to help jazz them up.

An 11 oz drink contains is 160 calories. 30 grams of protein, 3 grams fat, 5 grams carbs, and 1 sugar gram.

Unjury has some good flavors also. In case you didn't know, you can often times get free samples or reduced prices for sample packs from manufacturers for Protein Drinks and Vitamins.< /p>

I can't find the thread right now, but TapSnap started one and it has a lot of information in it.

Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
