Anyone in Eastern PA?

Hi Suezip -

Moving along slowly but surely.

PP says OK (I was afraid he wouldn't)

I have to go for a 2nd sleep study

(apparently my Obstructive SA needs a session with the "CRAP" mask.

Can't wait for the consultation appt. Sept 4 (now less than a month away)

I can't believe I've been at this nearly 2 months already!

Why do you have 5 more months?

Is it an insurance requirement?

Do you have a date yet?

From Windsor PA (York County) here. I am surprised by how few people are from PA. I have tons of weight to lose and was looking for some local peeps to share the journey with.

Hi, I'm from Bethlehem, PA and had my surgery done by Dr. Garcia on Oct. 7th. Would love to meet up with others in the Lehigh Valley who have had LB surgery.

I am attending a seminar hosted by the Reading Hospital next week (it is actually taking place at the Eden Resort in Lancaster). I am from Myerstown, Pa just east of Lebanon. I was thinking about also attending a seminar from the hershey med-center. Is shopping around a good thing, or will I go into information overload?

I'm from Myerstown too! :wink2: My dad's been thinking about the LAPBAND procedure for a while now...his doctor thinks it would be a good decision for him too. He is planning to check out a seminar at Reading Hospital and I was just wondering if you got a lot out what they told you. Thanks

I'm not banded yet, but ending up going with Reading Weight Management Center. I am having Dr. Ku perform the lap-band surgery and he has been really great so far, along with his office. Their office is very organized and does all the paperwork. So far, so good. I have just begun my 3 month program.

I'm from Tobyhanna, PA (Poconos). Surgery is June 1 at Geisinger in Danville. Their protocol is the six-month plan, but that's just to get you to the approval stage. At six-month appt. they send all to insurance co and surgeon. So it's actually more like 7-8 month program. If I were rich..lol...I would have headed on down to Houston to my daughter's surgeon and had it done months ago. But since I'm not....lol

Good luck.

Trisha

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
