Possible Bandster Bread???

Recommended Posts

English Muffin Bread

Ingredients:

2 pkgs yeast

6 cups flour (5 for microwave)

1 Tbsp sugar

2 tsp salt

2 cups milk

1/4 tsp baking soda

1/2 cup Water

cornmeal

Directions:

Combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and soda.

Heat liquids until very warm (120-130 F). Add to dry mixture; beat well. Stir in rest of flour to make a stiff batter. Spoon into 2 loaf pans that have been greased and sprinkled with cornmeal. Cover; let rise in warm place for 45 minutes.

Bake at 400 F for 25 minutes. Remove from pans immediately and cool.

Or: microwave each loaf on High for 6 minutes 30 seconds. Allow to rest 5 minutes before removing from pans.

Notes:

The bread won't brown if you bake it in a microwave, so don't be tempted to bake it longer than the specified time. It's still delicious! My favorite way to eat this bread is in thick slices lightly broiled with lots of butter (or margarine) and cinnamon-sugar mixture.

I don't know how this will work for me post banding... right now I'm still on Clear Liquids so I'm a long, long way from trying it... But had to say that I agree, this english muffin bread is sooooo good toasted!

Thin slices, toasted and MAYBE I can eat it...I can eat the heel of a regular piece of bread if I toast it good...I get day old Bagels from a local place called bagel sphere, slice them thin and bake my own "bagel chips". Wonderful replacement for crackers or bread and I make my own neufchatel cheese spread, or tuna salad to go on them...they are excellent to put in my pocket to nibble on as I go out to walk on my lunch hour at work.

This would beYummy on crackers or in a salad.

chicken & ASPARAGUS SPREAD

I used leftover chicken I had baked and steamed asparagus.

I use kitchen shears to mince it up and then add a little mayonaise, seasoning salt and just a dash of italian Salad Dressing. I ate it alone and could eat about 3/4 c. It was very good and I was full for about 3 hrs.

EASY CHICKEN TORTILLA Soup

Boil 4-6 boneless skinless thighs, diced into small pieces

5-6 diced green onions

2 tbsp garlic

2 tbsp chives

diced fresh cilantro or 2 tbsp dried cilantro

Add 1 can of garbanzo Beans or red Beans, or both

Add 1 box of rice a roni "spanish rice" seasonings and rice

Allow to simmer for 20 min or so

I cut and fry my own corn tortillas for this, but you can buy them also. I like that if I make my own, I can make them very crisp and drain them very well..we put them on the side so they can be put in the Soup a few at a time while we eat...and I usually only put a couple in mine..the soup alone is very filling...this is one of my family's favorite "quick" meals.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
