I am 9.5 months post op and down 113 lbs. I can't complain i guess! I'm just wondering what people are eating this far out of surgery and about how many calories everyone is consuming in their average day?? I still would like to lose another 40 lbs or so. It's getting way harder to lose now! I am committed to the gym and eat pretty healthy. I just have these stalls. Or 1 week I'll go up 1 or 2 lbs out of nowhere. It drives me crazy! Any advice and recommendations are appreciated!!

I can't give you advice directly about being that far out, as I am just coming up on six months out. But these are the rules from my surgeon & his staff for all post-sleeve people until they reach their goal weight:

--no more than 800 calories per day

--no more than 60 grams of carbs per day

--no more than 30 grams of fat per day

--minimum 75 grams Protein for women and 80 grams protein for men

--minimum 64 oz liquids per day (preferably more)

--keep meals at a maximum of 3 oz per meal up to 6 months, may increase to 4 oz per meal after that

--no snacking on solid foods (drinks such as Protein Drinks are fine)

--no Soup, no Cereal

--no grains, no starchy veggies, nothing with refined sugar

--journal everything you eat on Myfitnesspal or a similar app/site

--attend support group regularly

Every surgeon seems to have their own rules -- yours may have his/her own plan to follow. In some ways my surgeon's plan is extremely strict, and lots of people will disagree with things like no snacking -- but I made the decision to follow all of the rules without question since making up my own rules wasn't working for me before surgery! And in some ways he is more lenient than other surgeons, since we are allowed up to 60 grams of carbs while many others say you have to stay under 40. Good luck to you!

I can tell you what I did...

Get up 6AM - Have coffee (Maybe have half a boiled Egg)

8AM - Breakfast is one packet of original oatmeal/and 3/4 scoop of chocolate or vanilla Protein powder

9AM - take Vitamins

10:30 - eat celery with plain lowfat greek yogart

12:30 - lunch

(So I measure my food at 1/2 cup with 80% Protein (chicken, fish, or beef/turkey) and 20% fruit or veggie)

2:30 - String cheese

5ish - half of a boiled egg and half of a piece of fruit

7ish - dinner (again this a 1/2 cup - with 80/20 rule)

I try to always eat every two hours! This keeps my energy up!

What you see above was my meals M-F for a year! I am so obsessed with it --- that if i don't eat this way I get really anxious!

Thanks,

Brittany

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
