Not Feeling Hungry

Recommended Posts

I havnt' been feeling very hungry lately. Is it best to eat anyway to get the calories in, or not eat if your hungry? I've heard both sides?

That's a really tough question. I'm sure you're going to get a lot of varying answers.

As for myself, I was told by my doctor to only eat when physically hungry. However, if I don't get enough nutrients and calories, not only do I get dizzy and sick feeling but my weight loss will also come to a screeching halt. So if I realize I've gone all day without eating I drink a Protein shake that's high in both Vitamins and Protein. This way I don't get that sick feeling and my body is still getting what it needs.

Stay hydrated. That's very important. And like Mis said you still need to be aware of protein/nutrients/vitamins. But IMO it is ok to eat less (or fewer times) than your doctor recommends.

It's a good feeling, isn't it??? I have to remind myself to eat....I never get hungry 24/7.....

I have gone full 24hr days without eating, if I am very busy at work, traveling, etc....usually it is my Wife who insists it is time to eat....

So when I do eat, I make sure I make the best of it...Good, wise food choices....not worrying about the calories....

Protein and Water....protein and water....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
