30-Day Plank Challenge: Who Is In For This One?

Recommended Posts

Oh my WOW!!! You are already at 300 seconds?!? GEAUX you! Of course, I know you are a fitness fanatic, unlike me, but that's still impressive. :)

Thanks! I started doing planks about 8 months ago. 20 s was a long time. Over several months I surpassed 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 90 seconds, 180 seconds. A few months later, I worked up to 300 seconds. Practice is what it takes. I started in same condition as everyone, but have found fitness to be enjoyable in a somewhat self enlightening manner. And the more time you dedicate towards it, the easier and more enjoyable it becomes. Does not happen over night!! So that is how I got to 300 s over several months. Now I want to stretch my goals more.

I hadn't either before I started it in November. Not easy but what I loved is that progress is very achievable. Little victories all add up :)

I did this last month with GG, and while I definitely saw improvement, I never got beyond about 95 seconds. However...to go from barely holding 20 secs to 95 secs in about 3 weeks was still a great achievement, at least in my opinion. I'm doing a different ab challenge this month, but will continue to plank in solidarity with y'all. Plank on, you sexy plankers!! :D

I can't sat that I did, except that I could plank longer. But I don't think a month is long enough to see huge changes. Besides my body is changing so fast right now, it's hard to know what's causing what, you know?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
